2 Special Things About My Louis Lamour Book Collection

I have this pretty leather-back collection of Louis Lamour books.  It’s not the entire collection so I’m still trying to find the ones that I don’t have and get them added.

Anyways, the number one reason why these are special to me is because they were handed down to me by my Uncle.  He’s always been a favorite of mine and he was gracious enough to give them to me.  They will always be with me and I hope to pass them down to one of my sons.

The second reason is the printing in some of the books.  Most of the books are fine but I have a few where the printing is upside down/backwards.  If you look at the picture below, you’ll see that I’m showing you the front of the book.  Louis Lamour’s signature in gold is always on the front of the leather ones.  But if you open the book, you’ll see that the second  page is the end of the book, upside down–obviously a misprint which, I think, makes these rare and special.

I don’t know if that makes them worth anything dollar wise but they are worth a lot to me regardless.  These are at least 2o yrs old and I intend to make sure they keep on-a livin’.

My Granddad was a huge Louis Lamour fan! We too have some of the leather bound books. I’ll have to look and see if any of his are a misprint too. I bet they are worth something, I know that if I ever come across some, I’ll buy them!

I love Louis Lamour books. Even without the misprint, that collection is something to treasure. I hope your boys can read them and enjoy them. Even now at the age of 54, I enjoy going into the mountains and trying to walk like a Sackett, making no noise. And I always want to be like the women in his books, feminine but strong.

What great collection. My dad and grandpa both love Louis Lamour and even I have some good memories of reading some of his books growing up.
