This is really a wonderful post! I find it incomprehensible that there are people who don't love to read, but I know that it's so. These are wonderful tips for raising a child who really appreciates the joys of reading.

Visiting for the Postie Carnival.

My parents always treated books as a special treat, and I love to read. Kids want what they can't have, so I don't see anything wrong with using books as a reward.

corrin's last blog post..Four Foods on Friday!

This is a very good post. I taught first grade for 12 years. I must have said a hundred times to parents through the years that the best thing they can do to teach their children to read is to read to them often when they are little.

What a great post! I must admit that I am lacking in this area. it isn't that I don't want to read aloud, I just absolutely hate to do it. It was so forced when I was going to school that I don't do it as much anymore. I love to listen to my hubby's voice when he reads aloud. We don't seem to have the time anymore to read like we use to. The kids are older and invloved in sports now. I would love to start a bedtime reading again.

Thanks for inspiring me to restart it.
