Oysters with Surprises

When we lived up by Amarillo, we would go eat at Joe’s Crab Shack with our familia all the time.  It was always fun and I love their grilled mahi-mahi.  My husband and his brother would always buy oysters on a half shell, usually around 4-6 dozen total.  I don’t know if they were Gulf oystersor not because I’m not a fan of them but they sure did think they were wonderful.  My brother-in-law has found a few pearls before with my husband only finding one.  What a surprise it is though to find that.  Just imagine if you could find a diamond or something??..woohoo!

Well, pearls aren’t the only surprises that oysters give you.  Try food poisoning!  One time in New Mexico my husband got a hold of some raw ones, according to the doctor, because he ended up in the hospital.  He went 2 or 3 days trying to stand the pain, vomiting, and fever but finally had to be taken in.  I’ve never seen him in such a vulnerable state.  To this day, he says he “purt-near died” and I believe him.  He is amazingly tough and I really do think had it been someone else, things could have ended up worse.

While this may be a sponsored post, it’s also a very true story.  Be careful and only buy oysters from a reputable place!
