Cowgirls and Dooney & Bourke

Just in case you don’t read my other blog, I made over $900 bucks in the last 30 days from blogging.  I decided to splurge a little and buy myself a couple of things.  I don’t normally buy myself things but since I’ve been making more money through blogging, I’ve been able to do a little more.  While visiting some family this weekend, I went to this little variety store in Matador, TX.  It’s a little expensive but most stores are that are in small towns.  I found the cutest fabric that I just had to have.  Instead of the usual cowboy scene, I went in the opposite direction and chose the cowgirl scene.  What does my husband say about this?  “Nothin’ like an orgy with a bunch of cowgirls!” HA!!  I never thought that would come out of his mouth but it did crack me up!

The color is a beautiful yellow color.  This picture doesn’t do it justice at all!  I’ll be using this as a duvet cover for my bed.  I think I’ll put a chocolate backing on it too.  I think the brown will bring the brown crevices in my cedar bed.  I bought a couple of extra yards to make throw pillows.  We’ll see how that turns out.  COST: $14.99 per yard.  I bought 12.  I was lucky enough to get a 20% discount so that helped out a bunch.  Can’t wait to show you the before and after!  That will come much later though;)

NEXT, I bought myself a Dooney handbag.  I LOVE Dooney & Bourke and am particularly fond of the all weather leather collections.  This time though, I opted for the signature series because of the size of bag I was looking for.  I wanted a handbag that my camera could fit into and this one works out well.  I can actually fit my laptop in it as well.  It would get heavy with all that but I could manage and it would be better than carrying several different bags when travelling.  Not that I travel that much but if I can get one of those cheap flights to where ever I wanted to go at that very moment, I would hop on it in a heartbeat.

COST: Just over $200.  Dang you DR for introducing me to Dooney!

So what do you buy when you have some extra cash??  Do you go crazy like me??  Or are you a penny pincher??

  1. Your cowgirl material is just to cute. Love it. I have never been one for many purses or handbags myself. But that’s just me. If and when I do splurge I find myself buying clothes, shoes and now am redecorating our bedroom.

  2. I love the cowgirl fabric! And I hope Rooster enjoys his cowgirl orgy! LMAO You know I love D&B too, they are great purses that will last. When I have a bit of extra money I tend to spend it on the boys or me. I wish I would train myself to pay it on bills and get debt paid down so I’d have extra every pay day but I don’t always see it that way. Oh well.

  3. Good gravey your DH is a nut!! I love that material…however I am more of a material collector! Runs in my family. We could open a store with what we all own. Anyway, I am the same, extra cash means a shopping trip. However it’s usually to the craft store, not the bag shop. Cute bag nonetheless.

  4. I love getting extra cash! When I do, I’ll usually spend it on my DH first :P But then he’ll be too nice and insist I get something for myself first :P

  5. I try to pay down my CC, but I do tend to blow it…

  6. Good for you Lori! I say treat yourself but after the bills are paid and the food is bought. I don’t treat myself very often but when I do it feels good. You should be proud of your blogging accomplishments. There’s only more good to come your way!
