Kiss This Sk*rt!

Branded by Lori | May 12, 2008 .

If you don’t already know, the women at Skirt magazine have raised a stink, even filing a lawsuit against the fine women at Sk*rt kirtsy over the trademark to the “skirt” brand.  Personally, I think they are jealous of the ever growing community of kirtsy.  That or they are just plain beeyatches–probably both!

Anyways, kirtsy has stripped off the sk*rt for good and needs everyone to show them some love.  If you have their old badges and are linked to their old name, please change it.  Don’t know who they are??  Then you have obviously been living under a rock!  Go check out the kirtsy blog and read about who they are and the awesome giveaways they are having in celebration of their new and better name.

As for Skirt Magazine, well, picture says it all!

See who else is talking about it.

I also think it’s a jealousy factor, that or like you said, they’re crazy people. I can’t believe they got their panties all in a bunch over a name such as skirt; I mean, it’s a piece of clothing’s name and all…Haha.

Thanks Jenny! It took me all of 2 minutes to make
By the way, I’m a new reader of yours and I’m enjoying every minute of it. You are freakin’ hilarious!

Yes Holly, I really do think they are just flat out jealous of the popularity that kirtsy has. I think they lost a lot of readers because of it.

Good for you Lori for posting about this, I thought it was ridiculous that they got so up in arms over the name too! When I got the email about it, I thought the “new” name sounded better anyway, so there!

Hey there Lori! I’ve got to disagree with you on this one. I think that if I were Skirt the magazine and spent all sorts of money having a registered trademarked name (just for this type of purpose) I’d be mad too. Think about it. What if someone started a blog named A Cowboy’s Wife but they were .org or whatever. You’d be pissed! Then if it was more popular and better? Oh, you’d be jealous and more pissed! Had you spend money to have your brand and name protected you wouldn’t like it one bit. I think we need to think logically here. I like the girls from Kirtsy and their site and how they handled everything but they were wrong. No…the lawyer was wrong. They had bad legal advise and that isn’t their fault. Notice how they got Kirtsy trademarked? So someone can’t steal their name. If someone does do you think they’ll do nothing about it?

    7. Lori  May 14, 2008 9:47 pm

Yes, it makes sense but I think that the Skirt women handled it badly. They didn’t even send a letter, make a phone call, or anything to the kirtsy women asking them if they would please change the name, etc. They should have had the respect to at least ask first before they stormed in with their lawyers and such.

      Hmmmm, should I trademark a cowboy’s wife???

Um, I think we would all like for this to happen but I don’t think it’s realistic for letters and nice phone calls to happen. If I were them and were mad or offended I wouldn’t feel like I had to kiss their kirtsy’s! I’d want change and I’d make it happen. No joking around.

As for the trademark? It’s a LOT of money!!! Trust me. Legal Zoom was the cheapist and if you’re going to do it, my lawyer said it was cheaper then using her. Good luck.
