Travelin’ Soldier

After dropping off my oldest at football practice, I was driving back home when Travelin Soldier came on.  I was just listening and then all of the sudden I busted out in tears.  I really don’t anyone over there or anyone who who currently has a loved one over there but it really hit me about how many have lost their lives and how many won’t ever see their loved one again.  It made me sad and extremely grateful for the people who are in my life.

  1. A few years ago I knew 20 guys that were over thereincluding my husband and his best friend. I have always loved that song. I’m thankful for men like him everyday!

  2. I do, I know alot of them… I met my husband when I was enlisted, my sister and her husband are enlisted and my two brothers are enlisted. We joke with my mom that they should have given her citizenship for free since everyone of her children are serving or have served this country.. And that song still makes me cry… There are so many out there that don’t have anyone to write to them or send them packages… on every deployment my husband takes a list of all the single sailors and their e-mails and I distribute it to the teacher I know and the kids send them cards, letters, e-mails etc. I try to send each one of them at least 1 or 2 care packages… I appreciate you mentioning this, so many have forgotten what is STILL going on out there and have taken up complaining instead…

Let’s hear it for the enlisted…. rememeber they VOLUNTEERED!!!!

  3. I’m a National Guard wife who will be packing the husband up for round two in Iraq at the end of this year. Perspective is good and sometimes it takes a subtle reminder, such as a song, to remember just how lucky we are.

Just stumbled upon your blog…love it….

  6. Hi
My name is Bec and I am from Australia, I stumbled onto your blog today while I was reading sex diaries of a mom. (Her blog is great too and I have subscribed to hers and yours!!) I am new to blogging, and I know that I am commenting on a blog you wrote a while ago, but I love the song travelling solider and it too had the same affect on me!! I can’t wait to read more of your blog about life on a ranch in The states. I have lived on remote cattle properties in outback australia, but I have a connection to America, for some odd reason. I have never been there but feel like I have, and I absolutly love the great country music you guys produce over there. Keep up the good work and now I have subscribed I am sure not to miss anything!
