9 Online Things that Irk Me
Either I’m having a bad day or am finding more things that bother me online…maybe I’m just 
getting old.
- 1. The complainers (which is sorta what I’m doing right now huh). Doesn’t anyone else have better things to do than complain about piddly crap that doesn’t matter? I mean really, is your life at risk because there’s a twitter party that is trying to get a new website recognized and HELP others??? PAleeeeeeeeeeze
- 2. People who pretty much copy someone’s website from template to wording. Yes, “imitation is the best form of flattery,” but geez, get your own look with your own words.
- 3. Bloggers that push affiliate links in your face. Can’t.stand.it. Very unethical and makes you look bad even if you don’t realize it.
- 4. People who think they are going to get rich quick from blogging. Sorry to disappoint you but it’s super hard work to be successful. Research, commitment and patience will you get there eventually. I still have a ways to go myself.
- 5. People who ask for my contacts and are NEW to blogging. Sorry if it sounds rude but I’ve worked hard to get where I am and if you think I’m just gonna hand over my PR contacts to you, you’ve got another thing coming. Pay your dues first.
- 6. People who don’t follow the giveaway rules. How hard is it to follow a couple of simple rules!
- 7. Anonymous commenters. For one, I have your ip address so you really are not anonymous to me but those who rant in their comment and don’t show themselves are cowards in my book.
- 8. Commenters who complain when the blogger changes things up in their OWN blog. (see number 1) It is NOT YOUR blog, it is theirs.
- 9. Twitter peeps who comment on your post over at twitter and NOT on your post. just sayin’
So, I have a whole bunch more but I don’t want to sound like a b#%$ today (like I don’t already). Instead, I’ll let you have your turn and tell me what irks you online! Keep it real!
ah, I’ve had many of those days :) but anonymous, obnoxious commenters can put me in the mood any day. See, I didn’t comment on your post via Twitter. lol!

First, I love the photo. Hilarious. And I guess since I pretty much have started to ignore anything that bothers me I have nothing to add to the list. I keep it simple. We all write in our own space, people choose to visit or not. And if they do visit and don’t like it a person has a choice – close the browser and move on, or (in a utopian world) provide constructive criticism or disagreement. In a respectful manner.

I love it! Sister, you said it right. Twitter is not for haters, it’s for tweeters! I love your blog.
-I don’t like bloggers who walk around telling others “I’m kinda a big deal.” Um, so are lots of others. If you are a big deal, we already know it, so you really don’t need to proclaim it.
-I don’t like commenters who change their name from comment to comment, like we don’t know who they are. Folks, all blog softwares capture your IP address, so if you leave one comment, we can easily see all of them. Changing your email address from one to the other doesn’t really hide your identity. Oh, and Google allows us to see where else you’re leaving your vitriol…nothing is secret online. You’re not as clever as you think you are!

People who leave two or more comments in a row under different names, to make it seem like there are more people who agree with them. Unless you have multiple personalities, there is no excuse for that!

- Those folks who say “oh you are so lucky!!” Yes, I am lucky at times, but that is not the sole reason for my successes… sometimes? I’ve actually earned them. Sometimes? It’s because I’ve worked hard and been doing this for over 10 years and have learned a thing or two. Sometimes? It’s luck – but luck only gets you so far, and every time someone says “you are so lucky!” it usually means “you didn’t really deserve this good thing…” and I just want to go off. But I don’t. Except for right now.
And I’ll stop there or like I said? All day!! ;)

Good post ~ wish I could write a blog. It takes talent to “have something to say” and to get it down without looking dumb.
So therefore I am a blog follower because they always have something interesting on all of them.
I also see where you could make a little profit on them but still you have to have talent and sorry to say,
I lost all my talent in the 90’s and it never came back.
The “spark” is what I am talking about. Something that makes you jump out of bed first light to go get to it and be creative.
I sold jewelry that I handcrafted years ago and made a decent living at it.
I wish my spark would come back. The Etsy stores would be great to sell from.
That photo is hilarious and goes perfectly with your post! We all have those days where everything is annoying us. I hope tomorrow is better!

One thing that irks me is when I take the time to leave a meaningful comment on a blog and the blogger doesn’t attempt to respond at all or visit my blog. If you want others to comment, you should at least try to reciprocate once and awhile.

I am over here clapping! I get SO SO SO angry when people ask me how to sign up for free stuff. There’s no signing up, you have to work for it. Oh and how to make money online to fuel their shopping habit. I don’t mind helping those who I know will pay it forward, but GEEZE! Oh and people who totally ignore your post and comment with a link to an award that’s been going around the web since 1995! Everyone blogs for different reasons, don’t we? I think some people think they’re going to write out a few thoughts online and become rich and famous. I’m sure the blog world is not the only place they behave this way.
Someone from Great Wolf Lodge didn’t like my review and left me a nasty comment. Of course, they left their trail for me to see. I just deleted it and laughed to myself. People who think they are clever but have no idea their i.p. address is being logged aren’t very clever after all. They sent themselves an email from work (and it clearly shows it coming from Great Wolf Lodge) to their yahoo account. Then they clicked the link right from the email they sent themselves. Brilliant, no?
I just erased the comment. No sense being upset by it. Those people want to turn you into who they are. Not gonna happen.

I guess being the newbie (kinda sorta) around, I have to admit, I have made those mistakes of asking for things for free, and wandering how much bloggers can make (although I never asked for a W-2, it was more like I wanted to know a range, like could it be $2 a week or $1000/week?) When I first met the #11moms in Bentonville, I admit, I was so overwhelmed and excited about knowing everything thing about blogging, it never really occured to me how much effort, work, and time, it takes to be a blogger, and I wasn’t aware of what kind of questions were appropriate or not. You see, I never even heard of twitter or blogging (like we do) before, I thought blogging was just people writing stuff about their families, I never ever knew it could be a “job”. Now, that I have started blogging I NOW know how much effort,time, patience and work it truly is and I know how hard it is to get contacts, and etc… I know how hard it is to get your blog stats up, which of course I have a LONG LONG way to go.
And, you have every right to complain, I guess I am seeing both sides, since I am so new, Sometimes new people dont know what is appropriate until THEY themselves actually do a blog. Then, like me, you quickly find out and WOW, I now feel forever indebtted to the #11moms that got me started, and now that I have been to my first conference at BlissDom and see how truly hard everyone is working I am WOWED even more.
Sometimes pure excitement comes over me and I guess questions aren’t thought about before being presented. But, NOW I KNOW, and NOW I TRY very hard not to ask these questions. I try to ask for guidance, which is different. But I do admit, there was a time about 3 months ago that I was asking and thinking the same way as some of your irks.
I would like to formally apologize to anyone I may have offended, right here, and just want to let anyone reading that no harm was ever meant (By me at least) I was just new and didnt know any better.

By the way, I love that picture of the baby, so cute, and I do have to admit now, that LOL, I have some of the same irks as a blogger. The people not following contest rules I guess Is my biggest right now. Of course I am new so no one is asking me for contact lists yet, lol, but I am sure in a few years that time will come for me too.
I do want to add, that I love your blog and I think YOU are a wonderful person, and a great person who one day I can only hope to aspire to be like you.
I hope your days to come will be better and you arent irked so much. I am wishing you a wonderful weekend and for you to have peace.
