It's definitely not your fault. Toddlers will do anything they set their minds to--I should know; I have two three-year-old cousins and they'll do just about anything that pops into their head. The younger of the two was with me, my aunt, his aunt, and our grandpa in the moutains just a couple weeks before Christmas, and he ran head on for a drop-off of rocks. The drop really isn't that big (just a few feet taller than me) but he fortunately got his foot caught in between two rocks. He was perfectly fine, with just a few scratches on his elbow. It was terrifying, but nothing was going to prevent it from happening.

That blister on your little guy's foot just shows you exactly how determined a child is. Although, I don't think he knew it was hot until he actually touched it, but still. The blister will probably take a few weeks to heal, but he'll be all better and he won't even remember it. So, don't feel guilty; all toddlers are quicker than us adults, especially when we're caught off guard.

You and I both share the house full of boyishness ... I think I would be more concerned if we went too long without someone getting hurt! That would mean they were being bumps on a log and doing a whole lotta nothing ;-)

His poor little footsie looks like it's going to hurt a little bit there, but I'm sure it will be feeling better in no time. I didn't know that about not popping the blister. I'm guilty of popping them when I get the on my own feet -lol-

Girl, with that much testosterone around, someone is always going to get bruised, banged, burned, whatever. Poor Truett, I do feel bad for him but gez, kids just do those things sometimes and there is nothing we can do about it. I'd be more worried if he had never gotten hurt in his life, that just wouldn't be normal!

Now why would you say that your opinion doesn't count for squat! Geez, what kind of gal you think I am? I care...I'm not THAT mean;)

Very nice words you said....I do appreciate it!

My little guy is absolutely loving the attention no doubt and we have snuggled quite a bit since the injury.....very sweet...reminds me to do so more often;)

Not that my opinion counts for squat.
I feel for you.
I dont think that makes you a bad parent.
Its hard seeing your little ones hurt and its our inborn instinct to want to protect them from any and all.
When my 9 month old took his first faceplant while learning to walk, his bloody nose just broke my heart.
love,
consistency, rules to keep them safe and considerate,
joy in your eyes when he is looking to you for that connection.
laughing with them as much as possible.

THOSE are the things that make a good parent.
and a bump, a scrape, bloody nose, or skinned knee doesent take that away.

I am sure the attention, comfort and love hes getting from mommy while he recovers is valuable. and though the injury isnt a good thing, theres good come from it with the bonding and emotions you have shared with your son.
sorry if this is too long,
I just felt for you.
thanks and take care

Awww, poor baby! As cliche as it sounds, boys really will be boys. Don't be so hard on yourself.

And, yeah, definitely don't pop it! The stuff in there is pretty much "liquid skin" and needs time to heal so the blister is protecting it while it does.

Hope he feels better and is running all over the place again soon!

Oooh! Poor baby! These things happen though, especially with boys and especially on farms! An old Greek remedy (that really works) is putting cold yogurt on a burn immediately after. It stops it from blistering and eases the pain. :)

Ouch! Kids move quick and it only takes a second. Just tonight my little girl DID NOT want her diaper changed. She thumbed her little back and tailbone on the hard floor so hard in protest I thought she hurt herself. Luckily, I think not. Nonetheless, it takes a second and can not always be under your control. So yes, it hurts. Yes, it feels bad and so do you. Will he learn? Maybe? Were you watching closely, maybe not but was dad or brothers? We can't do it all. It was an accident and he will be okay. Just give him TLC and follow DR. advice and you'll be fine. You're NOT a bad mom!
