Baby Step Your Way to Social Networking Success

If there’s one thing I’ve learned online and off, it’s that you MUST put yourself out there. Regardless of what niche you’re in, it’s important to communicate with other groups for several reasons. Not only will you be sharing your insights and knowledge with others, you will learn a great deal from people that you, otherwise, would have never met had you NOT put yourself out there.

Don’t Be Afraid

You can’t be afraid of rejection or criticism – in fact, you may as well prepare yourself for both of those because they will most likely happen. While most bloggers won’t bite, there will always be those few that think they’re better than you, or just don’t care about the little people. Don’t let that scare you! Instead, let it motivate you to become a better blogger, a better person!

Communicate

Twitter is hot right now, so if you’re not twittering, you’re missing out. It’s the new way to network and socialize via live chat. You’ll find that it’s more of an inviting conversation, which makes for a comfortable approach to those that you admire and want to get to know more.

There are also some wonderful online groups that you can join, like Mom Bloggers Club and Savvy Auntie. Offline, consider creating your own group or find local scrapbooking, mommy, or reading clubs. Surround yourself with activity. It will enhance your social skills and give your self-confidence a boost.

The Takeaway

Don’t let networking intimidate you, whether it’s online or offline. Join some groups, interact with the community or probloggers (perhaps request an interview), and just be yourself.
