Beer Battered Catfish

Before I get to the recipe, I wanted to point out the new link ,on my navigation bar, that says ‘Recipes’.  I added this today as a request by my own mother!  She wanted to be able to scroll through the recipe titles without having to hit the ‘previous posts’ link over and over again.  I plan to add the various food categories to that page to help you narrow down your search to whatever you’re looking for (example:desserts).  Don’t forget, when you click on any individual post, you have the option to print it.  I hope you find this useful and if you have a request or recommendation, please feel free to contact me.

Now on to the recipe!


  • 1 pound catfish fillets
  • 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 2/3 cup beer
  • 3/4 cup oil


Wash fish, and pat dry.  Coat with flour; set aside.  Combine remaining four with lemon juice and beer, stirring until smooth.  Heat oil inlarge skillet over medum-high heat.  Meanwhile, dip fish in batter.  Fry fish until golden brown on both sides.  Serve with hushpuppies, coleslaw, and sweet tea!

    Beer Battered Catfish is by farmy favorite. I loved making this for my boyfriend. What a funtime we had that night. The only picture I saw one for the recipe book.

    2 (8 oz.) pkgs. cream cheese
    1 egg yolk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. sugar
    2 pkgs. crescent rolls (8 count)
    1 egg white (save to brush on crust)
    Soften cream cheese. Lay 1 container of crescent rolls in the bottom of an ungreased 9″x13″ pan. Mix all other ingredients in a bowl and then spread evenly on top of crescent roll layer. Then place the other container of crescent rolls over the top of filling, leaving no gaps in dough. Brush egg white over the top layer of dough. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown. Cool. Drizzle with powdered sugar glaze (approximately 1 cup powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons milk). Cut into desired size of squares.
