If you don’t already know, my husband builds spurs.  Lots of them here lately along with bits and buckles.  Well I guess his talent is rubbing off on my both of my sons because they have been busy.
Let’s take a look at my oldest son’s work first.  He was dying to make his own pair [...]

Lucky Spurs

Posted by Lori | July 27, 2008 .

When my husband makes these bits and spurs, all I can think about it where they’ll end up.  Who’s gonna have them, what will they do with them??  He works so hard on them that I hope who ever ends up owning them appreciates them some.
Anyways, I don’t feel like blogging…..just gonna leave you with [...]

I’ve got a new store coming soon and one section will be devoted to my husband’s trade of bit and spur making.  It won’t be nothin’ fancy but it will be a page people can go to if they want to order something.  I’m trying to talk him into expanding and making some jewelry but [...]

My husband’s trade for builing bits, spurs, and buckles has come in quite handy since our job loss.  He just finished up 4 pairs of spurs for a trader fello and has been making a few buckles in-between.

Halter Breakin’ Colts

Posted by Lori | January 19, 2008 .

As I’ve mentioned before, my husband brought home 2 colts.  They need halter breaking, which is where Tyler comes in.  They’re just yearlings and have never been touched and sure enough haven’t had anything put on them before.
For those who have no clue what halter breakin’ is….it’s basically getting the horse used to having a rope [...]

Saddles 101

Posted by Lori | January 10, 2008 .

A cowboy can’t do his job without a saddle.  It’s a cowboy’s most beloved possession and cowboys have no problem spending thousands on one of these babies!  The saddle shown here is one of my husbands (yes, he has more than 1 and no, I didn’t mean I had more than 1 husband..lol).  This a [...]

Handmade Curb Bit #3

Posted by Lori | November 27, 2007 .

My husband has come a long way from his first bit to this one.  This bit is stamped RF 03 and it’s my favorite of the 3 so far.  It’s all handmade of course, silver mounted, and hand engraved.  I think the copper centers on the flowers really make it look nice
I’m so proud…currently this [...]

First Handmade Bit

Posted by Lori | November 9, 2007 .

My husband made his first bit! This was a new challenge because he hasn’t even seen anyone build one of these. I think he did pretty darn good! I’m so proud of him, especially since he hasn’t had any coaching what-so-ever. He’s got some spurs on ebay right now. They have a naked lady on [...]

One Busy Man

Posted by Lori | October 8, 2007 .

My husband kept himself pretty busy this weekend. Aside from browsing pictures my brother-in-law sent and deleting very important & non-important files, he also made some spurs to put on ebay. I thought they turned out very nice. They are his 14th pair. They have a card suit on the outside of the spur and [...]
