día aburrido en el rancho

I ate a Barney Butter sandwich on whole wheat bread with 1 cup of whole milk for breakfast at 6:30am.  Since Dr. Pepper is my usual breakfast, I was proud that I didn’t open a DP until 8am.  My goal is to only have 2 a day but we’ll see what happens.  I’m feeling good today.  Since moving my desk into the bedroom, I have a beautiful window view.  So beautiful it inspired me to grab my camera which is a big deal because I haven’t felt too inspired lately.  Truett is watching Cat in the Hat and looking so sweet.  I think about when he was just a baby and how much he’s grown.  Still not dressed so I’m gonna clean up me and the house before heading to town.

Town was CRAZY!  I guess it’s all the last minute scrambling for food to prepare for Thanksgiving huh?  I saw this display at Walmart today while shopping for our own Thanksgiving feast items.  They had a really cute Santa one but too many people were standing in front and I couldn’t get a pic of it, so I stole this one that my son’s friend took.

For lunch I ate a Grilled Cheese Kids Meal with curly fries and a very small drink.  I know..you’re probably saying that I should be eating the fast food but here’s the thing, I can’t change my eating lifestyle over night so finding things to change over time is what it will be will help me succeed. I could have easily gotten a full blown meal (#10) with a super sized DP but I didn’t, and that’s a step.

A few hours later I had a snack; barney butter on wheat and a banana to be exact.  I haven’t drank any water at this point but am about to get some.  Ugh. I don’t know why it’s so hard for me to drink it but I’m gonna force myself since I’ve committed to at least 2 glasses a day.  Wish me luck.

Mail came today and guess what I got??!!  Just because I’m Mexican doesn’t mean I know Spanish so I was thrilled to get this from Rosetta Stone!!  Tu Sabes Espanol?

During the late afternoon, I went with my man to check heifers. No calves, just pretty horses.

And finally, I ended my  day with watching Dancing with the Stars.   Everyone ate elsewhere so I just ate a turkey sandwich on wheat and some pop chips, followed by a Dole fruit cup.  I felt good all of the day. I’m a little tired but with good reason.   I think I’ll hit the hay early tonight.

Ummm, let’s see…I’m a little rusty.  Alguna vez ha montado un caballo?

    I think you’re doing an awesome job on your road to a healthier lifestyle. Those small steps usually lead to lasting changes in what/how we eat & exercise, kudo’s to you for sharing your journey with us all!

    Btw, totally green with envy over Rosetta Stone ,I’ve heard it is the BEST language training program & will be eager to hear your impressions of it!

    You’re doing great..keep it up. I know how hard it is to “stick with it” as well. For water substitutes, try adding crystal light or something to your water..it’ll help make it go down easier. I trick myself with my water..I make sure I have a water bottle (usually disposable) that is ICE cold (I do NOT like lukewarm water and drink that down..it’s not too bad (this coming from someone who doesn’t like water either). I am currently on a lifestyle change of my own..and it includes 10 glasses of water a day..which I have a problem doing myself.

    Hang in there..we’re proud of you and it really is all about baby steps!

    Lori, you did great today! Can you add fresh squeezed lemon or lime juice to your water? Or does it have to be plain water? (I like to add lemon and then sweeten it with Stevia.)

    It took me a while to drink more water too but I found a way around it :) Go buy yourself some sugar free Kool-aid or Welch’s. I personally LOVE grape. I keep a 2 quart container in the fridge and suck that down like it is out of style. I still only drink water during my gym work outs though. And when I’m at work its always Diet Dr. Pepper.

    I agree with Charla above- I saw Dr. Oz yesterday and he was extolling the virtues of Stevia. And kudos on the kids meal. My best friend Danielle lost over 100 pounds and this is her 10th year. She did it by eating kid sized portions and not giving up anything she loves.

      Thanks Lisa. That gives me encouragement. I don’t want to give up everything I love so I do think it’s all about moderation and portion control. :)
