I don’t know about you guys, but we go through crazy amounts of blueberries around here. Truett and Toby eat them by the handfuls, along with any other fruit I bring into the house. I saw a huge container of cherries the other day at walmart and decided to pair them up with the blueberries for a cold, Summer treat. You know the drill…… I scream, You scream, We all scream for ICE CREAM! WOOHOO!

You’re not gonna believe this but I have never owned an ice cream maker. *GASP* I know right? I grew up eating homemade ice cream so you would think I’d have one huh? I finally bought one the other day and put it to work making this homemade cherry-blueberry ice cream. Since we have been trying to watch what we consume around here, I decided to go the low-fat route and adding fresh fruit is just icing on the ice cream. What’s so fun about this dandy appliance, is that you can throw all sorts of goodies into and make delightful treats every single day! And for much less than what you’d pay to all go out and eat ice cream.

I would LOVE to hear your ice cream recipes if you have them, low-fat or not! I’m dying to try more. There’s nothing better to cool down a hot Texas day than homemade ice cream, you know? Can I get an AMEN! YIP YIP!

GOOD FOR YOU

We all know that blueberries are very good for our health but did you know that cherries are too? Here’s some things you might not have known!

When eating cherries, the queritrin is set free to fight off all the body’s cancerous cells. Queritrin–a flavonoid–is rich in cherries, and has been found by researchers to be one of the most potent anticancer agents.

Cherries also contain ellagic acid, a naturally occurring plant phenolic known as an anti-carcinogenic/anti-mutagenic compound. Some researchers say that ellagic acid may be the most effective way to prevent cancer.

Tart cherries contain two powerful compounds, anthocyanins and bioflavonoids. Both of these compounds slow down the enzymes Cyclo-oxyygenase-1 and — 2, which helps to relieve and prevent arthritis and gout in the body.

Cherries are rich in two important flavonoids, isoqueritrin and queritrin, which act as antioxidants and work to eliminate byproducts of oxidative stress, therefore slowing down the aging process.

By helping to reduce inflammation in the body, the anthocyanin and bioflanoids in cherries also help eliminate migraine headaches. These compounds are known to have similar activity to aspirin and ibuprofen.

Melatonin is also found to help the body’s natural sleep patterns. Since the body so rapidly absorbs melatonin, cherries can increase melatonin levels in the blood, therefore improving the way you sleep.

Here’s to Summer!

If you’re like me, you have clear vases stashed everywhere. Clear vases are usually pretty cost-friendly but not always eye appealing. This very simple DIY makeover takes less than 10 minutes and only uses two supplies, bringing the cost to less than $5 bucks if you already have a vase. And if you don’t have a clear vase, no worries. The Rust-Oleum Ultra Cover 2x spray paint that I used will cover anything beautifully!

I first saw this in a magazine and have been wanting to try it. Don’t ask me which magazine because I have no clue. As a magazine hoarder, I don’t know the names of half of the ones I read! What I love about this DIY project, is that I can use any type of vase, any size of rubber bands, and any color of spray paint I want and it will be original.

SUPPLIES NEEDED

Rust-Oleum Ultra Cover 2x spray paint (in your color choice)

Rubber Bands (I got mine at walmart for less than $1)

Vase

INSTRUCTIONS

Place rubber bands all over vase in various directions. Make sure each band is straight and there are no twists.

Lightly spray paint a coat over vase and rubber bands. You can stop here or add another coat or two. I wanted mine to be dark so I added a second coat. Let dry.

Remove rubber bands and you’re done!

What a great project that the kids can help with! They can place the rubber bands anywhere they want and even spray paint (with your supervision of course), and get to see their cool creation. I love it! What projects have used with Rust-Oleum spray paint? I’m always looking for new stuff to do.

You would think that me being half Hispanic, I’d be more naturally tanned, but I’m not. A lot of that has to do with me being in the house so much, working. I decided to get my glow on for this Summer with Jergens Natural Glow. I first heard about this from my very good friend Audrey (you may know her from Mom Generations). I can remember her always saying how she uses Jergens all year ’round to keep that natural glow. And she always looks fabulously tanned and while I’m sure she does get some sun, I do know that she prefers this to the sun for obvious reasons.

Jergens Natural Glow gradually creates a natural color when used once a day. There’s no funny colors, no streaking, nothing like that. You’re basically moisturizing your skin with lotion, with the added benefits of glowing tan and SPF protection. I’ve been using it for almost a month now and I am in love with it. I could definitely see differences but when my SIL noticed, I knew it was working. We always get-together at the Western Heritage and this year, she said my hair looked more red and that I looked soooo tanned! I loved that! If you’re wondering about the hair, redheads run in the family on my grandmother’s (mom) side. I guess my true colors are coming out…both hair and skin! lol

My bottle is getting low because I use it on my whole body, especially places that don’t get sun like my upper thighs, stomach, etc. I rinse my hands and use it sparingly on my knees, elbows, and ankles. The bottle runs at just under $9 bucks and while that may seem like a lot, I’m keeping my body safe from the sun, moisturizing it and making it feel super soft, and gettin’ my glow on on places I’d never show the sun…..or anyone for that matter. HA!

By the way, if you noticed the photo above, you can see that they make one for your face, which I have also been using! I hate foundation so this has been great for me.

How do you get your glow on for Summer?

A few weeks ago, I had the awesome opportunity to attend a Cooper Tire event in San Antonio. I was particularly interested in this event for a couple of reasons; 1)I love auto stuff!! Tires, cars, everything. and 2) I know what a blowout can cause. Ladies, don’t skim this post. Read it, educate yourself, and know your tires!

I think that most people take their tires for granted, to be honest, but if you take a minute to think about how those 4 tires are the only thing touching the road, driving 70mph+, then you might be more careful about them. Recently, there was an unfortunate accident along our highway (in the middle of nowhere), due to worn out tires. These fellas in a pickup truck, who are very hard workers & much appreciated ’round here, had a blowout. They weren’t doing anything wrong. They weren’t speeding and they were wearing seat belts but that blowout caused a huge, one-vehicle rollover. People were ejected, hurt, and killed. There were 5 in that truck and two didn’t make it; an older gentleman and a 21yr old. Every time I drive down that road, I’m reminded of the wreck and what worn out tires can do. Me, my husband, and my kids make this drive regularly and while you don’t expect it to happen to you, this is proof of just how easy it can happen to anyone. Thankfully these guys were appreciated enough for all their hard efforts that the two men who died, received enough donations from local ranchers and community members, to have their bodies shipped back to their families in Mexico.

I have had to change a blowout more than once, even when I was HUGELY pregnant. It’s not fun but we always try to get as much as we can out of those tires don’t we? What’s scary, is what if I had lost control being pregnant like that? I believe that God has watched over me through the years FO SHO!

I had the chance to do two test drives at the Cooper Tire track. The first ones were in Chevy Tahoes. One had new Cooper tires and the other had new comparable tires. I drove the comparable tire first, not expecting to notice much in either tire. I mean, they’re both new right? Surely they drive the same. Well no, actually they don’t. As I drove the first tahoe on this huge wet pad course, I was slightly uneasy. I could feel ‘give’ and movement as I took the curves. And even though it felt uneasy, I assumed this was normal. But then, I drove the tahoe with Cooper tires on it. Oh my cow! Such a huge difference. I honestly was shocked to feel the difference. I felt like wherever I steered, those tires went precisely with no give, no feeling of insecurity. I was even comfortable enough to gain speed because of it. It just goes to show you that HOW a tire is made, truly makes a difference in how it drives.

My second test drive consisted of two BMW cars; one with used tires on the back and one with used tires on the front. The used tires were only about 50% worn but wow….incredible and scary difference. Do you know which end to put new tires on if you’re only able to buy 2 new tires? Well let me just tell y’all…it’s the back! When I drove the one with used tires on the back, I skidded and spun around everywhere. It was heart-pounding and flat out terrifying to me. When the new tires were in the back, there was much more stability and traction. I never knew any of this so I was thrilled to learn and come back and share.

I think women can feel quite intimidated when walking in to make a tire purchase but you don’t have to be! You just need to ask a few questions and when these fellas hear you ask them, they’ll most likely be intimidated by the fact that you know your stuff!

P stands for passenger tire (or you may find LT for Light Truck Tire).

205 is the width of the tire in millimetres.

55 is the “aspect ratio” – the ratio of the height of the sidewall to the width, expressed as a percentage.

R means the tire has radial construction.

16 represents the wheel diameter in inches.

89 is the load index.

V is the speed rating.

THINGS TO KNOW and ASK WHEN BUYING NEW TIRES

Are my current tires the best tires for my vehicle?

What are the best tires that match my driving habits and my price?

Can you give me a pricing tier of my tire type with three choices?

What is the mileage warranty (if any) of my new tires?

Is the tire manufacturer highly reputable?

One very important thing I learned is how to tell the age of a tire. Why would you want to know this? Because unfortunately, there are some tire dealers out there that will keep tires in stock from years ago and you do not want to buy aged tires that have been sitting on the shelf for years. Here’s how to tell the age of Cooper Tires:

TIRE INFLATION - TIPS AND INFO! Underinflation is the number one enemy of a tire.

Certain tire compounds can improve or have an adverse effect on fuel efficiency.

Don’t overload your vehicle.

Find the vehicle manufacturer’s recommended pressures for your front, rear and spare tires. The recommended pressures are printed on the vehicle’s tire information label, which is usually attached to the edge of the driver’s door, the door post, the glove box or the fuel door. If you can’t find the label, check your owner’s manual.

Measure the pressure when your tires are cold, and don’t forget the spare. Tires will be cold if the vehicle has been stationary for at least three hours or has not been driven more than 2 km.

Remember that tires lose pressure when the air temperature gets colder (about 7 kPa or 1 psi for every 5°C drop in temperature). Tires may also lose a certain amount of pressure due to their permeability (about 14 kPa or 2 psi per month).

Overinflation can be a problem too. An overinflated tire rides on just the center portion of the tread. The smaller contact area means reduced grip on the road, leading to a harsh ride, handling issues (such as steering and stopping problems) and increased wear on tires and suspension components.

Let me tell you WHY you should buy Cooper Tires. They work very hard to bring you a superior tire for a lower price. They strive hard to make quality, safe tires that you and me can afford. It’s important to them. They put an incredible amount of testing on every single tire. Insane testing y’all. 80+% of their tires are made and sold here in the good ol’ USA. HELLLOOOOOOOO! THAT’S what I’m talkin’ about! I know many of my readers will appreciate that!

They also use some of the finest materials to make these tires. Do you know what tires of made of? Rubber, Polyester, Nylon, and Steel…just a little trivia for ya. But do you wanna know why I have become an overnight superfan of Cooper tires? –The people behind the company. You ever judge someone, a company, a situation because you don’t know them. You’ve heard of them or whatever but you don’t know them? Then you get time with them and realize, they’re pretty freakin’ great right? Well that’s how it was for me. I sat down with the people and got to see their facial expressions, attitudes, sincerity, and passion for the company. They were genuine in answers and truly embraced our brave, crazy driving. They embraced our questions with truths and ‘normal’ dialogue. Not some jumbled shoptalk. I left the event thinking of them as ‘good people’. There are still good folks out there, even in business, and the Cooper Tire company is one of them.

I realize this post got a little long but I guess that should tell you just how important I feel this is. It should tell you that I am behind Cooper Tire all the way. It should make you want to go check your tires and not take anything for granted. Maybe you can handle a blowout….but can you teen driver?
Stay tuned for part 2, which will be about all the fun stuff we did. And it was fun!

Disclosure: Cooper Tire invited us to their facilities to test and learn about their tires and tire safety. All my travel expenses were paid but my opinions are mine….as they have always been and will remain to be.

For bike lovers around the country, May is the time of the year that commemorates the greats of the bicycling world and aims at educating the public about the green nature of biking in general. This , sees the global promotion of a special event that will inculcate feelings of gratitude and remembrance in onlookers and participants.

Each year, thousands are lost to biking accidents on the road. These are souls who were enjoying the nature on bicycles, living a happy and healthy life. They were students cycling to college or school, employees hitting the road for work and enthusiasts just enjoying the free run of the terrain. In commemoration of such lost souls, friends, family members, May this year will host an event of global proportion no longer limited to the US shores. Called the Ride of Silence, bikers can gather together at a meet up place and ride out under police escort through the streets in silence and in honor of cyclists who lost their life to motoring accidents.

Started about ten years ago, this event takes place every May and now covers over 26 countries and 50 states in the United States alone. Each year participants burgeon in numbers and this year is expected to draw in thousands of riders in every city.
The month of May does more than just remember people who lost their life on a bicycle. It also increases the awareness of the public, enthusing in them the desire to live a healthier and fitter life. Bicycles might be slower than motor vehicles but they are clean and good for the health.

Considered as a cardiovascular exercise, this sport is taken up by millions around the world, either from compulsion or out of vocation. Such folks tend to be leaner, fitter and healthier with lower cardiovascular and other body problems. Biking is in fact known to promote a healthier immune system with an improved immune response of the body. Folks with asthma and other similar diseases find immense relief biking. This is the motto behind May’s National Bike Month event – the promotion of cycling in general.

Since we just bought a bike for Truett at Walmart, we plan to just ride our bikes around here on the ranch, as a family; thankful to have each other, for our health, and for some fun! Yes, even cowboys ride bikes! My husband is riding Toby’s bike that he bought at Walmart last Summer!

How do you plan to celebrate National Bike Month? Do you encourage bike riding? Do you ride with your kids?? Share with me y’all!

Truett’s room is so blah. I really think that’s a big reason he doesn’t spend much time in here. It’s drab and boring and I wouldn’t want to be in there either. It needed some umph!

If you haven’t seen the awesome Disney paints that Glidden has, you need to check them out. Truett picked out the colors and we went with the following:

Taillight (Red)

Caution Yellow

Sleepover Scare (blue)

Glimmering Silver

Truett loves cowboy life, cars, and football. He could not decide what he wanted but he knew he wanted something with Lightning McQueen. There were several idea books and I went with the lightning bolt since it looked easy enough!

First, I needed to tape off edges that I didn’t want painted. Thank goodness for Frog tape! I had two difference sizes to use which was awesome because I needed each for different reasons. It works great and doesn’t take off the paint once you pull it off.

After taping off areas to exclude, I shook up the can, opened up the red, and went to work. I have to praise this super cool spout for the paint can! That was super handy to have and easy to clean up. Because our walls are funky, I went over with a light coat on the first round and topped with one more coat. I let it dry completely overnight and started the lightning bolt the next day.

I taped off a template to work with. I used a smaller roller brush and the metallic paint. I did two coats of this as well, letting dry before applying the numbers. We just free-handed the numbers and we used number 13 since both of his older brothers had that number in football.

Pretty cool huh!! To the right side of the window, I went with some pinstripes in the same metallic silver. Ignore the dirt on the window. Truett kept opening it up and the wind was blowing that love Texas dust into the house. Not very ideal when painting!

On the complete opposite side of the room, I did red on top since his chalkboard takes up the bottom half of the wall. I’ll probably put something like his name on that side. My husband thought he’d add his artistic touch to the room with his version of Lightning McQueen. He’s a kid at heart under than manly man.

So here’s the before —

And the after, tada! —

I’m not done yet though. I have touch-ups to do and finish the other walls (and to make it mesh) but I was so excited that I had to share. Truett thinks it’s SUPER AWESOME!

Why do you want to make the Glidden Disney Paints (found at Walmart) your next purchase?

Low-VOC - The fumes are minimal. I hardly noticed any smell from painting.

Colors are amazing, vibrant, and very Disney! Don’t be scared of color!

Very durable paint! It would have to be if it’s geared towards kids. Don’t let ‘Disney’ colors shy you away from an office makeover or something!

If you could pick out paints for you or your child’s room, what would they be and what theme would it be?

This morning brought one of the scariest moments of my life.

Toby signed himself out of school because he had been throwing up from a stomach bug that had been going around. He came home, went to bed and got right back up to puke. He went to bed again and within a few minutes was in the bathroom puking again but this time, he ended up laying on the floor and not in his bed. I heard a loud crash and found Toby laying on the bathroom floor. As I turned him over my lap, all I saw were his eyes wide open but he wasn’t breathing. I kept screaming “Toby” over and over again but no response, no movement, no breathe. He had hit his head on the bathroom counter, right on his temple.

My husband clearly heard that tone in my voice and ran to us. He quickly threw me out of the way and put Toby in his arms. He yelled at me to call 911 and in that couple of minutes, everything was a blur to me. Noe was beating Toby’s chest trying to get him to breathe while I was frantically calling in. I had to repeat my address 3 times and explain what happened more than once. The ambulance was on their way but it’s a 30 minute drive to our house from the closest hospital. And we have an address that UPS & Fedex don’t like so I imagine 911 doesn’t like it either. In order to find my house, the dispatcher at the sheriff’s office called me to get directions. There was a cop and sheriff escorting the ambulance to make sure my house was found.

By the time they arrived, Toby was starting to make sense and talk a little bit. He was still laying down because he when he tried to move, he got dizzy. He seemed okay, considering. The ambulance took him in, they ran tests and said that he had a vasovagal episode.

Vasovagal syncope (vay-zoh-VAY-gul SING-kuh-pee) is one of the most common causes of fainting. Vasovagal syncope occurs when your body overreacts to certain triggers, such as the sight of blood or extreme emotional distress. The vasovagal syncope trigger causes a sudden drop in your heart rate and blood pressure. That leads to reduced blood flow to your brain, which results in a brief loss of consciousness.

Sounds like it’s no biggie but that’s not how it felt to me. Doctor said that most likely, he was breathing but only 2-4 breaths per minute, which is normal when someone is ‘knocked out’. We normally breathe around 18 breaths per minute so it would look as though he wasn’t. However, I still don’t think he was. It took my husband a few minutes of beating his chest and then Toby was moaning & grunting while trying to gasp for air. When he came too, he sorta freaked out and his arms were jerking, etc but my husband held him. Toby said that when he woke up, he felt like he had been dreaming but everything was blurry. He doesn’t remember much from it. He’s okay.

Let me tell you why this is a God moment now.

I had been to Mom 2.0 for 4 days. I got home to find everyone sick with stomach bug. I had been procrastinating ,due to a busy schedule, with a post that was due. I needed to paint Truett’s room. That’s a lot of work you know? I was already behind as far as due date. I had no desire to do it the prior morning. That night, I had been praying about all of us. Asking God to keep us safe from bad influences, harm, etc. I woke up this morning feeling fresh and had an overwhelming feeling to paint so when Toby showed up from signing himself out of school, I was doing just that, painting. Everything started to happen as I explained at the beginning. But this is what makes it a God moment………

I have had well over two weeks to paint. Had not touched it once. I had prayed the night before for my family. I woke up feeling I needed to paint. Toby came home sick. I am NEVER in Truett’s room or on that side of the house during the day. I am always in my room, working on the computer. Had I not been painting, I would have never heard Toby fall. Had it not been lunch time, my husband would have not been here to get Toby breathing. This is a God moment because I prayed for my family hard that night. It’s a God moment because I had an overwhelming desire to paint on this particular day, on a day that God knew what would happen in that bathroom. It all happened during lunch which is the only time my husband is even close to the house. You tell me that’s not a God moment. What would have happened had I not been painting and heard Toby fall??? What would have happened if it had happened any other time than lunch on that day?? I learned that I do not do well in these situations and it all happened the way it did for a reason.

Thank You God for allowing his injury to be minimal, knowing it could have been so much worse under other circumstances. I know that You were right there listening to my prayers, guiding the day and prompting my heart.

I love you Toby!

I’m excited to partner up with Central Garden & Pet and share with you, my honest experiences during these Spring and Summer months. I’ll be talking to you about several products like Ironite, Fish Fertilizer, and Seven Dust.

I showed you how we replant our Ivy plants but I didn’t tell you about plant & lawn food, both of which ours need around here, especially with the hot, harsh Texas weather. With no rain and hot temperatures, our plants and lawn are drained daily. We need to provide them some nourishment in order to help them thrive better. Today I’m talking about Ironite Plus Lawn & Plant Food. I use this for my lawn, plants, shrubs, and roses. Ironite is a mineral supplement that is available in both granular and liquid forms. It is formulated to add iron to the soil without burning the roots of grass, trees, shrubs and other plants.

FOR PLANTS & FLOWERS

If you’re using the granules, you simply place them around the plant on the soil and cover with more soil. Add water and you’re done. If you’re using the liquid version, you’ll mix 2 – 4 teaspoons of Ironite with a gallon of water. Pour this mixture around the plants, on the soil.

FOR THE LAWN

Simply attach the bottle to your water hose, turn it ‘on’, and spray. The bottle is made to distribute exactly what is needed during watering.

I expect to see green results soon and look forward to a more vibrant yard, vs feeling like I’m in a dessert.

$25 AMERICAN EXPRESS GIFT CARD GIVEAWAY

As a dinosaur in blog land, I’ve attended many conferences & events. When you’ve been blogging for seven years, you’ve heard it all, been there/done that, and seen everything. That’s not entirely true but that was how it came to feel over the years. So what did I do? I quit going. I focused on family and did my own thing, but there’s something to be said about Mom 2.0, so I’m saying it.

For the last month or so, I’ve been praying for purpose and inspiration so when Dove reached out and offered to sponsor me to Mom 2.0, I felt like it was a sign. I hadn’t ever been to this conference and had always wanted to attend so I was tickled to death at the opportunity. I went in with no expectations.

Upon arrival, at the very posh Ritz-Carlton, I already began to wonder if I needed to be there. It definitely didn’t feel like my type of environment or crowd but then I thought to myself, “What am I, chopped liver?”. I clearly needed to take Dove’s message to heart (more on that later). Keep in mind, I live on a ranch in the middle of nowhere. Unless I’m doing a church thing, I’m not around a whole lot of women, plus, I hadn’t went to any conferences in a while. As the evening came though, I quickly noticed the scared, deer-in-the-headlights look that many of these women had, and knew I had to chin up and embrace the dinosaur in me. I smiled and greeted ladies who looked as scared as I did at my first conference. I offered chairs when they looked like they didn’t know where they could sit, and I walked away with new friendships. This is not so easily done at some of the big, very overwhelming conferences which is why I was so thankful for a smaller conference. I already felt a sense of peace.

I had very meaningful conversations with some delightful PR folks and I don’t mean just business conversations. Several of us talked as if we had been friends forever. It felt real and it felt like it was the beginning of a long term relationship that would benefit each other in the form of business and friendship. We all listened to Lisa Ling speak about how important it is tell yourself, your daughters, and other women that ‘you’re beautiful’ and that when so much of that is missing from a girl’s life, they quickly embrace any male figure who will tell them, and how that can even end them up in the sex trafficking circle (more on that later). As I soaked in the messages of Lisa and Dove, I noticed that while I don’t have a daughter, much of what they said applied to me when I was a little girl, some of which still resonates with me. Take the Dove commercial, for example, on how the women see themselves and how others see them. I can only imagine how I would have described myself and how that sketch would have turned out. And it makes me sad. I will never be comfortable with praise or compliments but it’s necessary for me to love who I am because I am an influence to other women around me. My friends, strangers, and my kid’s friends.

Shitake mushrooms were a hit at the cooking demo with Whirlpool & Lowe’s. The appliances were drool worthy, the charging stations were savers, but I especially loved my conversation with Habitat for Humanity which was behind all that.

The panels and sessions I attended were exceptional. I attended a few and walked away with several pages of notes, front and back. Not only did Mom 2.0 bring in some fabulously smart panelists, they put together outstanding topics and content. The swag was fantastic and everyone was gracious.

Here’s a few things that stuck out to me, some you may have heard and need to hear again, and some you haven’t.

Do what you do best and hire out the rest.

One of the greatest causes of unhappiness is comparison.

Knowing your weaknesses is the best thing you can do for yourself.

Have your friends describe you to you. You’ll learn so much about yourself.

If you don’t know what they think is a successful campaign, you can’t GIVE them a successful campaign.

Girls have the ingredients for a self-confident life but sometimes need a recipe.

The greatest barrier to success is fear of failure.

Waste nothing.

I left Mom 2.0 with gained perspective, creative insights, and tearful inspiration. I left there feeling like I had attended my very first conference and it completely rekindled the small flame inside me that was slowly burning out.

I am thankful to each and every sponsor (and person) that helped make Mom 2.0 a success. I’m thankful to Dove for allowing me to have the opportunity to experience all these things, and I’m especially thankful to my son Toby, who encouraged me to go even though it would mean I’d miss his prom. I would miss helping him with his tie and taking photos of him, with him, and watching him drive off to pick up his prom date. He knew that I needed to be inspired again and what an awesome chance this might bring for just that very thing.

There is so much more to be said about Mom 2.0…………………and I will say it.

Disclosure: Dove sponsored my trip. I had no obligations, other than to share my experience. I am grateful and will always share my honest opinion, always.

In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, people everywhere are cooking up Mexican inspired, authentic meals. I’m bringing you a simple Summer side that fits perfectly into the Mexican food theme; Mexican Grilled Corn.

Buying a Mexican spice is seriously one of the easiest ways to give grilled corn. You can achieve the same results using a combination of Mexican spices but we have a favorite one we like to use; Tajin Clasico Seasoning at Walmart- Chili Peppers, Salt, Dehydrated Lime Juice, and Sodium Dioxide, to prevent caking of course.

I found some wonderful, fresh corn cobs at our Walmart for just $.25 each. That’s a frugal side dish y’all!

We simply mix Tajin with some butter before and after grilling. The flavor is fun, spicy, and makes for a Mexican side dish that is fabuloso!
