Happy New Year 2008!
Best wishes to everyone for 2008!!!! I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and stayed safe. We spent the New Year with out good friends playing Spoons and Spades. The men worked their horses outside, we women cooked up some food (well, we mostly chatted away), and the kids played football outside. For those who have no clue what Spoons is, it’s a super fun game that involves spoons and cards. You lay out spoons..if you have 8 people playing, you put out 7 spoons in the middle of the table. Everyone gets 4 cards and the goal is to get 4 of a kind. You have to be fast. The dealer starts grabbing a card from the deck. If he can’t use it towards getting his 4 of a kind, then he passes it to the next player..so on and so on but you pass them FAST! No slowpokes allowed!! When you the 4 of a kind, you grab a spoon. Who ever is left without a spoon is out. Lemme tell ya…this game gets crazy! People are diving across the table and everything just to grab a spoon:)
Here’s is the 3 girls that were left playing spoons after the rest of us got out.

The kids were having their own fun playing “leg war”. Basically, it’s like thumb war. They lay down with their inside hands holding and lock legs. Who ever can get the other one turned over first, wins! 1,2,3,4..let’s go ahead and start a war…..PLEASE NOTE: IF your kids are sissies, then they don’t need to play because, chances are, one will get hit by a foot. Luckily, these kids are tough as nails!

And the night wouldn’t be complete without a couple of funny faces!

Happy New Year Folks!

I must admit I have never played spoon!
