I told you in my 6 Ways to Survive Black Friday post that I would share my first experience with you so here it is. And since I have at least one reader that is deaf, Karen, I’m gonna write this out so that she can hear what I’m saying.
I was standing in line for at least 2hrs for a stereo which happen to be the hot ticket item of that year. As the hour approaches, the crowd starts gathering closer to the door, squeezing everyone and pushing us forward. The associates inside are laughing because apparently they’ve seen it before or are wondering if we’ve all gone mad or something.
The door opens and the crowd rushes in and EVERYONE is running! Not jogging or walking fast, running!!!! I had no intentions on running but there is no way I was gonna let someone pass me!! The next thing I know, a lady who is running ahead of me, drops her car keys. I yell, “HEY, YOU DROPPED YOUR KEYS!” She says, “I DON’T CARE!! I’LL GET THEM LATER!!”. HUH? She’ll get her car keys later? Are you kidding me?? I couldn’t believe someone would ditch their keys, potentially losing them forever, just for a stereo.
Come to find out, the stereos were not in the electronics department, they were in the clothing department. I actually saw two women dive down and fight over the last stereo. It was crazy to say the least!!!
So what’s your story?? Have you been or are you going for the first time?
My hair is a mess, I had allergies, and my shirt is wrinkled………Yeah, I really do keep it real;)

Hey you are so cute! I have gotten the idea into my head that I’m going to go to some Black Friday sales with my mom this year. I think I’m insane to even think about it, but we really need to get stuff at the lowest prices this year. I’m checking the flyers that are out and will have specific items to purchase. If I can find my Flip video, I’ll film it! Off to read your tips!

The first time I went shopping on Black Friday was in 2004, two months after Dawson was born. Big Mistake. I was going for a DVD player, and since I was up at the ass-crack of dawn to nurse Dawson, I thought, “Hey! I’ll go shopping!”
I get to the store, I’m one of the first people in the door. Women are running around frantically; lots of screaming and yelling going on. Miraculously I got one of the coveted DVD players and I put it my cart. Mind you, I’ve got my baby in his car seat in the cart, too.
Suddenly this woman with two kids who are about 12 and 13 years old, walks over to me and grabs the DVD player out of my cart. I’m like, “Excuse me?” and she says, “I need it a lot more than YOU do.” and she points at her two teenagers. I was like Hell NO, crazy woman. So I go over and grab my DVD player out of her hands. I then put it underneath Dawson’s car seat and walked away.
I was in shock the whole day. I couldn’t believe someone would have the balls to do something like that.
That’s scary! But after getting the laptop at Walmart today I may give Black Friday a try. I know it’ll be a lot worse but if I can get some bargains like I did today, I’m all for it.
Girl, thanks for letting me have access! I’m actually going to be sitting out Black Friday because we’re going to do all gift cards this year and I’ve gotten little things here and there so far. Christmas is going to be painless this year.
