I think the importance you place on PR is also very dependent on what you want out of your blog. one thing is that people should not get obsessed!!! Take a look at this video: http://whereisthatmoney.blogspot.com/2007/10/google-pagerank-food-for-thought.html

I couldn't understand how Google give their rating for PR. I just hope there are some guidelines to it. I keep on working on my PR and it's hardly show any improvement. I want to know what am i doing wrong.

I think the page rank system is about as fair as it can get under circumstances, but it is a pain-a constant battle.

Some people say that page ranks are very important and the reasons you have given are valid to some extent. But I feel they are of no use at all.

I really don't like the PageRank system. I think that it means absolutely nothing in terms of the useful information, or how good a website actually is. It seems that you are better off pushing out worthless repeated information with keyowrds targeting than actually being created. It's a shame that people give so much value to a page's PR, despite the fact that it is more often than not, incorrect and totally dispensable.

Thanks for the tips. First I also think that PR is not a fact. It was a joke to me. But the reasons you described has logic. Now I believe PR has great value. Thanks :)

The comfort zone seems to be very important, especially for new readers. They may have no interest in the SEO value, they just want to know if it's a trustworthy site or not. Sadly, with some of google's decisions, some very trustworthy sites got reduced to 0's.

Great post!

Great tips. I work on my PageRank a lot in addition to my ranking in the SERPs. About 33% of my traffic is from Google, I can't afford for them to not love me. LOL
