Since my 15th anniversary is coming up, I thought I would recap why I think our marriage has lasted so long. I’m quiet proud of how long we’ve been together especially since I married at 16!! Yep, I’m 31:)

One thing we have never dealt with, is jealousy. Why? Because we just don’t get jealous. I think if you are truly in love with each other, you trust each other.

Another big marriage problem is money. We rarely fight about it because we have seperate accounts. We’ve had it this way since we’ve been together. Even though I don’t work, I make my own money various ways and he does give me so much every month. If I don’t have money and need some, it’s no big deal for him to give me some but this simpifies the spending. In fact, we have 3 checking accounts. One for the bills, household, and misc. type stuff. One for the him that has his trading money, money he makes from selling horses or cowboy gear, and so-on. And the other is mine. It may seem like a pain but it’s not. It really does help and makes a big difference. We are able to see what we spend and who’s spending what.

I also credit our long lasting marriage to old fashion values. Things like letting him wear the pants and be the man (or think it;) and me being the woman. I think my job as a wife to take care of the house, stay home and raise the children, and make sure my family has what they need-when they need it. I wrote a post a loooooong time ago about how to keep your man happy. It was NOT well received by the women and I completely understand why but it works for us. I’m not some slave that bows down to her man but I make him FEEL like he’s DA MAN! I don’t go around griping at him in front of others, or try to tell him what to do. We treat each other with respect unlike many marriages today.

I think it all boils down to trust, respect, and morals & values. I’m not saying it’s easy, in fact, the first 5 years were the hardest but it’s all worth it. We don’t always agree and sometimes just need to be away from each other for a day but we always make up know how much we love and need one another.

Okay, gals…I know you’re dying to give it to me!! :)
