This would make a great gift idea for the office nerd like myself (ahem Mother’s Day) or even a Teacher Appreciation gift! It’s so stinkin’ easy to make and one of the most affordable gifts you can create. If I were to make it for a teacher, I’d probably use red pens (or those assorted colors) and glue sticks, as well as, black pens! And if giving to a secretary, I’d probably buy some fancier flowers and container. When I had this in mind, I was just thinking Spring! I just wanted something colorful that would cheer me up while I’m sitting at my desk. Plus, my boys keep stealing my pens. Yeah, they deny it but now they can’t because a bright flower will be attached!

I bought the supplies at Walmart for next to nothing. Your flowers are under $5 bucks depending on which ones you choose and the floral tape was $1.97. A 10 pack of Pens cost $1 and if you can find a container at your home, no cost there. If you can’t, I recommend those tall mugs that are around $5 bucks. That’s under $15 if you have to buy a container, which is pretty good don’t you think? I know you’ve seen them but have you made one? If you have your own tips or ideas about pen bouquets, I’d love to hear them!

We got Cowboy when he was six months old, back in 2001. It was clear that he was mistreated by the previous owner and for the longest time, he would just ‘cow down’ anytime you got near him. Me and him became close though and once he started to trust me, he began to trust the rest of the family. What I loved about him is that he ALWAYS went with Tyler everywhere; horseback, on walks, to the barn, and just playing outside. I love him and while he has a harder time getting around these days, when he’s feeling good, he loves to run past you real fast and hop around. Love that about him.

We’ve never really fed him anything special but now that’s he going on 12 years old, he has a harder time chewing the hard dog food. And since I can’t stand the smell of wet dog (or cat) food, I was excited to let Cowboy get a taste of the new Fresh Pet Select Roasted Meals. Before I give my honest opinions, I want to share just a little bit about the product.

Natural with added vitamins and minerals

Made with fresh ingredients

Gently cooked to lock in nutrients

Complete and balanced for all life stages

This is found in a refrigerator, in the <a href="http://linksynergy.walmart.com/fs-bin/click?id=XyA4wG/4DK0&subid=0&offerid=183959.1&type=10&tmpid=273&RD_PARM0=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.walmart.com%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-ng.do%3Fsearch_constraint%3D0%2526ic%3D48_0%2526Find.x%3D0%2526Find.y%3D0%2526Find%3DFind%2526_ta%3D1%2526search_query%3Dfresh%2520pet%2520select%2526_tt%3Dfresh%2520pet&RD_PARM1=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.walmart.com%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-ng.do%3F&RD_PARM2=search_constraint%3D0%2526ic%3D48_0%2526Find.x%3D0%2526Find.y%3D0%2526Find%3DFind%2526_ta%3D1%2526search_query%3Dfresh%2520pet%2520select%2526_tt%3Dfresh%2520pet" rel="nofollow"target="_blank">pet aisle at our Walmart so I assume it’s the same at all Walmarts. It’s weird to say this too but it actually smells pretty good too. When cut open, you could see the fresh ingredients immediately.

What I loved though, was the chart that told me how much my dog should be eating and the measurement guide so that I can cut the appropriate amount off.

Something you should know about Cowboy is he does NOT like to be watched when it’s time to eat. In fact, he won’t eat anything unless we walk away or go back in the house. As you can see from the photos though, I was standing right there and while a tiny bit hesitant, he sniffed, nibbled, and then grabbed the whole thing and took off with it.

Clearly he enjoyed it so much that instead of waiting for me to leave, he went ahead and grabbed it so that he could eat it. That’s pretty cool. It makes me happy to see him enjoy the Fresh Pet Select food. It’s soft enough for his teeth and healthy so that he can enjoy his last years with us.

I would consider this premium pet food and with that, comes a price. While it is more expensive, it’s still not that bad really, especially for something so fresh and healthy for our pets. I really like the slice and serve factor too because I know that he’s getting the amount he needs. He’s not being overfed or underfed.

Have you guys tried this? I’d love to hear your opinion! If I ever get a Yorkie, this is the pet food I’ll be trying.

I am very much a tech nerd so I love learning about new programs that make my life easier. You can turn your dvd/blu-ray movie discs into digital by simply taking them to Walmart and having a Vudu account. I love this because as long as I have Internet, I’ll be able to watch my favorite movies from anywhere.

In the video, there are 3 Walmart associates. I was the first person who had gone in to try the disc to digital so it was a learning curve for all of us. While I cut the video down to less than 2 minutes, it only took 7 minutes for the entire process and that’s with them not being 100% sure on how to do it. I think they did awesome!

Find the dvd/blu-ray movies you have in your house. Sign up for a VUDU account ahead of time. This will simplify the process. Search your movies and add to your list. Not all your movies will be available but many are. They will be adding more movie studios that will allow this so be patient. What I love is that if you own a DVD but want it in HD, you can simply upgrade for the $5 vs the $2. Once your list is created, print it and take it to Walmart to be digitized. It’s very easy, cost efficient, and fast.

That’s it! They are in your account and ready to watch. Have you tried it yet? What movies can you absolutely not live without?

I love trying new lines of skincare. I am not blessed with great skin unfortunately so I do try to find new favorites to add to my collection. The Simple Skincare line is excellent for sensitive skin. You will find NO dyes, NO artificial perfumes, NO harsh irritants but will find lots of vitamins and things your skin will love.

I loved the using Simple. My skin really did feel healthier, my blackheads diminished quite a bit, and I could tell that some of my uneven tones didn’t look so bad. I definitely think it’s worth a try if you’re looking for something new to make your face look & feel better. I LOVE the cleansing wipes for when I’m totally lazy and don’t want to wash. My favorite though is probably the moisturizer. Really feels great! I’d love to know what you think if you’ve tried it. What do you look for in your skincare line?

The Kinect has been a wonderful piece of equipment in addition to our Xbox 360. It makes for great exercise and lots of laughs! Toy Story and Cars are just two of Truett’s favorite Disney movies/characters so when we got the game, <a href="http://linksynergy.walmart.com/fs-bin/click?id=XyA4wG/4DK0&subid=0&offerid=183959.1&type=10&tmpid=1082&RD_PARM0=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.walmart.com%2Fip%2FRush-Disney-Pixar-Adventure-Xbox-360-Xbox-360%2F19581049&RD_PARM1=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.walmart.com%2Fip%2FRush-Disney-Pixar-Adventure-Xbox-360-Xbox-360%2F19581049" rel="nofollow"target="_blank">Kinect Rush, Truett’s eyes lit up immediately! The game includes characters from The Incredibles, Up, Ratatouille, Toy Story, and Cars. If that doesn’t spell adventure and fun, I don’t know what will.

When setting up a player, one of the things that happens, is the kinect recognizes the body type and asks the player to get in a certain position and hold it. While this is easy for most, it was a little hard for Truett to stay completely still for those very few seconds. It took him 2 times. After that, you can pick your general avatar and customize changes. One of my favorite parts of the whole setup was the speech recognition and being able to say ‘skip’ or ‘no’, etc…

Once the game begins, they are thrown into this story-like park where they can walk around to get to all the major places of play. They can wander around the park and meet other kids that will give you their take of the park. Very cool! Of course, Truett was dying to find the Cars entrance. He LOVED driving and being one of the Cars characters.

It took him just a minute to figure out just how sensitive his “steering wheel” but once he got it, it was on! He thought it was cool how he could just push his arms forward to go faster. He tried his best to pass Mater! He also played the robot character in Toy Story. He thought the coolest thing was climbing the walls and jumping. At first, he couldn’t understand that all he had to do was act like he was actually walking around, turning his shoulders to go that direction, etc but after a few minutes of play, he was like a pro! We were cracking up watching him jump, climb, and move those arms FAST to run.

Overall, the game was a hit. Truett had a blast playing and even got his older brother up to play who also had fun. The characters were awesome, it felt SOOO real, and the way it mimics every single move you make is just amazing. Man, we have come so far haven’t we? All we can suggest? Hurry up and come out with MORE CHARACTERS!! These were so fun that we’d totally buy future releases! Two thumbs up, 5 stars, and AMEN from us!
I’ll definitely try to add some video so that you can get a real feel for it but I definitely recommend it. It’s about $50 bucks and well worth the entertainment and fun for the whole family.

Do you have an awesome product that belongs on Walmart’s shelves? Well if so, you have got to check out ‘Get On the Shelf‘! Walmart recently launched an exciting opportunity, giving you the chance to have your product sold in Walmart’s stores!

Have you been in the kids department lately? Have you seen the adorable cape and mask set? They come in red & blue or black & white and they are under $6 bucks! What a frugal way to be an awesome superhero! Anyways, those are made by moms like you and me. And when I was in Dallas a while back, I saw some honey sitting on an end-cap, thinking how authentic the label and name was, I asked about it and you guessed it….it was from a local beekeeper who had already been selling it to the locals. Walmart took notice and got his product on the shelf!

Maybe you can be their next story! Here’s how:

Create a video of your product.

Submit it to the ‘Get On the Shelf‘ website. (until February 22nd)

-The 1st round of voting begins March 7th – April 3rd. 10 finalists will be announced.

-Of those finalists, the 2nd round of voting will be April 11th – April 24th. The Top 3 finalists will be announced.

Contest is open to participants in the United States only. Walmart employees are not eligible for the contest. Products already carried by Walmart or Walmart.com are not eligible for entry either.

This could be someone’s big break so I encourage you to at least try! I know y’all have some creative product ideas that can help folks out!

What are you hoping will be on sale at Walmart during Black Friday? Electronics is always hot and I’m sure there’s bound to be plenty of those. I did great last year with the toys, clothes, and towels. As always, I plan to go shopping during Black Friday and take advantage of as many savings as possible.

Can you believe that November is around the corner and that means Thanksgiving! I wanted to share some tips with you to help get your home ready for the holidays when we all know that at some point, company will come over!

One of my favorite things to keep on hand are the Clorox Wipes. These are great for the bathrooms and kitchen. I know that my boys won’t ‘deep clean’ their bathroom and that I’m much more likely to get them to grab a wipe and sweep it across the sink or toilet. I make sure to keep some in the kitchen too. I usually use them after my counters have been cleaned with a washcloth. It’s like a quick swipe across the counters, with the Clorox wipes, gives me a sanitized clean feeling all over! Some other favorite uses are for the door knobs, refrigerator doors, and remotes.

I also love Pine-Sol. Not only is it great for your floors, it’s also great in your sink. Yes, in your sink y’all. Clean your sink with it and poor a little extra down the drain right before company arrives. It smells great!!

Some more things you should have done before the hoards of friends & family start coming:

Clean the microwave! Someone will want to use at some point, I guarantee it!

Sharpen your knives. You’ll be using them for all that cooking and will save you time by having it done ahead of time.

Safety check your home. Who knows what could happen during the hustle & bustle of cooking in the kitchen!

Clean out your fridge! Make room for the food!

Aside from your regular cleaning, I recommend washing your bedding and towels so that they’ll be clean for your guests. Stock up on paper goods; plates, towels, and toilet paper. Be sure to clean all rooms of your home because you never know who will go where, looking for what.

What are some things you do to prepare your home for the holidays and what are some of your favorite products to use? Mine include the two above, Dixie plates, Glad trash bags, Angel Soft toilet paper, and Brawny paper towels. Has anyone ever used Surf detergent??

Disclosure: I am an official Walmart Mom. Walmart has provided me with compensation in return for my time & efforts to create this post. I also received several products mentioned in this post, all of which I use on a regular basis (except for the Surf). My participation in this program is voluntary and my opinions are my own, always have been, always will be.

Me and my good friend are opening a local business together and one of the rooms was in desperate need of a paintover, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to try out Glidden paint!

Now I should say that I hate painting but through this process, found that having the right equipment and paint, it was much easier than I anticipated. I started off by deciding on a color and since our gameroom is red, white and black, we went with Candy Apple Red. There was a huge selection of colors, which made it very difficult to choose. We started to think about what color we could paint rooms in our own homes!!!! I’m sure our husbands would be thrilled with that idea, reckon?! LOL

We talked to the paint guy and he explained the differences of paint. He asked us if was interior or exterior, etc. He was super nice and seemed very knowledgeable! He checked his book to mix the paint accordingly, shook it up, and it was ready! He put a dab on the top of the paint can and blow dried it so that we could see the final color and indeed matched exactly!

I was sent a box of goodies to help me paint and immediately got to it. I opened the paint, grabbed a roller, and painted my little heart for the next 4 hours.

The first thing I noticed was that when I painted the walls, it looked pink. Then I remembered that Glidden’s paint does that. It goes on one color and dries was it’s supposed to be. This helps you see where you’ve painted and what parts are dry. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this!

It took all of 4 hours to complete the project since it was only the upper half of the wall (the bottom is wood) so one gallon of paint was MORE than enough. Here are the before photos. Keep in mind…when I said paintover, it’s because we literally were gonna paint over the old paint. The room will remain dark anyhow so we were okay with that decision.

And after. I’m sorry for the crappy photos but I didn’t have my good camera at the time so my point-n-shoot and iphone had to do the best they could.

Overall, I’m completely happy with the turnout. It was $28 for this gallon of paint and keep in mind, it’s a 2-1, meaning it’s both primer and paint. I think one coat did an awesome job. My favorite things about the paint was low odor and no splatter!!! I expected it to smell like paint for a long time but to be quite honest, I never even really smelled the paint. I walked outside for a bit, came back in and never even noticed. There was also no splatter. You know how when you use a roller and it your face and arms are covered with tiny speckles? Well not with this paint. I absolutely loved it. LOVE IT!

If you could paint any room, what room and what color? We’ve used really cheap paint in the past and I have to say, it’s totally worth spending an extra few bucks on quality paint like Glidden. It makes a world of difference!

Disclosure: Compensation & supplies were supplied for my efforts to create this post. All opinions are my own. I LOVE this paint! Bathroom is next!
