Thalia in New York City

I was in NYC the last few days and had the chance to eat at a much fancier restaurant, that is normally available to me, called Thalia.

Now many of you have probably eaten at places like this many times but I have not so even ordering the food was an issue for me.  I didn’t know what this was or that but with the help of my blogging friends, I was able to wing enough to get by.  While most of the other girls drank wine, I drank beer.  Yeah, I know…not classy by any means but it’s what I was comfortable with.

So that night they were having the special which consisted of the 3 courses.  The appetizer, the main, and the dessert.  I chose the vegetable mix while my good friend Tara chose the Butternut Squash Soup. She said it was fabulous and I believe her considering her bowl was licked clean.

For the main course, another good friend of mine, Alyssa, had this….and I don’t even know what it was called but those balls are cauliflower.  She too thought it was great and she wasn’t just saying that because she’s pregnant.

Even though I had a beer, I still gave the wine a try but, for me, it was too bitter.  I think you have to acquire a taste for wine you know.  I had a wonderful time with all the women there and the Thalia atmosphere is breathtaking.  Loved it and can’t wait to go back.

Sounds like you had a nice time. Don’t worry about drinking beer with dinner. There are many people who do that and there are many beer connoisseurs as well that pair different types of beers with different foods, just like they do wine. When my hubby used to drink he really was into all the different microbrews and different varieties.

Sounds fun! I’ve only been to one fancy-schmancy restaurant and it was nice. I felt uncomfortable but I didn’t really care too much because the food was wonderful!

Sounds like you had a wonderful time. I remember going to NY when I used to live back east.. was always a treat as there’s such a variety of restaurants there to chose from. I understand they even have “tasting tours” where people take a group on a tour of little known but wonderful “hole in the wall type” eateries. Enjoy your posts!!

Hey there lady! Sounds like you had fun. You know, I used to be with you on the beer thing but then I started drinking white wine, Chardonnay and I’m not going back. Beers great for pizza and burger but otherwise I’m going for the white wine. By hubby, Bush Light all the way so don’t feel not classy. Classy is being you.

That soup looked to die for! Yum!

Eating a beautiful place is so much fun! I’m glad you liked it, but I can’t believe you didn’t get a picture of your food–not even dessert!?
