What Will 2009 Bring for A Cowboy’s Wife

Apparently a lot so far.  With a trip to NYC in January, Nashville in February and Austin in March, I think I’ll be busier than ever.  I’m super excited about so many things that will be happening in 2009 that I’m that close to peeing my pants!

I hope to step up the quality of my posts.  So for this blog, I plan to post at least one picture everyday as part of the 365 photography project.  This is a fun way for me to step up my photography skills and see throughout the year what I have taken photos of and see where I’ve been.  Will try to avoid random posts about basically nothing and hopefully use that space to spotlight a hardworking self employed mom or dad.

There will be few reviews done on this blog.  It really go worse towards the end of the year because I wasn’t prepared for the holidays and PR companies.  I’ll still have giveaways but rules will apply on how they work…basically they’ll be done as they always have.

I think I’ll be bringing my Blogging with Cents alive…..slowly.  Instead of feeling obligated to post daily, I’ll just post on it when I feel I have good blogging material that you might want to know.  OR should I post blogging tips and how-to’s here?  Tell me your thoughts on that!!!

You really should read Jessica’s 15 Days of New Year’s Resolutions and apply some of those to your own resolutions.  They have been an inspiration for my 2009 resolutions with organization being at the top of them.

MY GOALS

Getting frugal with the help of some kind and wonderful women.  I’ll be subscribed to (and you should too) Tara from Deal Seeking Mom and Alyssa from Kingdom First Mom to get me started.  Talk about a couple of deal & coupon divas now.  MAN, these girls know their stuff!  Please feel free to share other frugal bloggers in the comments!

Try not to put myself down.  This is a weakness of mine and for good reason really.  I have a lot to choose from like education and weight BUT, I will try harder in 2009 to NOT say ugly things about myself and with the super duper encouragement & compliments  of Christine and Arianne, it’s already getting easier for me.  Really all the girls I talk to say such nice things but these two are overly nice…like throw up nice…LOL  You know what I mean right?  Just good people;)

Create more PR and better pages about me and my blogs (like press page & media kit).  I’m terrible at getting myself out there especially when I have a launch like with my most recent foodie community.  And I think it’s important to have a resume on hand for whatever reason.  For both of these, I plan to hire Katja Presnal, a social media guru who is super intelligent and way too nice for her own good.

Spend more time with family and less time online.  I have a lot going on  and it’s hard to stay away from the computer but I have found that time away makes me appreciate it more.  I have barely twittered in a weeks time and, to be honest, have enjoyed it.  While I love to twitter with my friends and hear about what’s going, I found it much more fun to use that time to play with little man or even just doing something that I love like photography;)  Will my traffic suffer if I don’t twitter or post daily?  Probably but it will be worth it to have “lived a little”.

Weight *rolling eyes*.  Yep, this time though, I will be HARD at work because I have been lucky enough to get sponsors to help out.  I really want to lose at least 20lbs before Blogher and will do everything I can to acheive that.

Finally, finding faith will still be in the works with me.  I imagine it will be a long journey but one worth taking and with Alyssa, Christine and Arianne’s help, I know I’ll get there.

So, what are your 2009 goals for yourself or your blog if you have one?

P.S.  Let’s try to have a little fun, peace and happiness without stressi’ in 2009!

I really enjoyed your post. I too was inspired by Jessica and posted my new me for 2009 on Sunday evening. I really hope to have a great year as well! I’ve enjoyed reading your posts and joining your foodie community, so thanks for all of your hard work.
BTW, if you have any spare time (probably not likely, I know) please feel free to check out my work in progress blog. THanks :-)

  2. It sounds like you have great plans to help you meet your goals. Good luck making it all come true. I also want to cutback on my computer time to spend more time with my kids and hubby. Hmmm maybe I should start now and go out to play! Happy New Years.

Excellent post. Best wishes with all of your resolutions in 2009.

I’m assuming that the February trip is to Blissdom. What are the other two trips that you will be taking? Are they blogging/business-related conferences?

Also: the 365 photography project sounds fun. Is there an “official” website for that?

I really relate to your third to last resolution. I want to “keep perspective” this year…I want my family to always be first…I want to give them the gifts of my time and attention.

  10. Lori,

I can totally relate to your resolutions!

I am going to try and spend more time with my guys. I spend WAY too much time on the computer too.

I am going to get healthy and lose weight this year!!!!! I’d love to have your join our 15% Club: http://tinyurl.com/8x9j8k

I am going to spend more time in and studying the Word (reading my Bible). I am going to spend more time praying for others.

I am going to work HARD at de-cluttering my home with unnecessary JUNK! And I want to turn our tiny apartment into a beautiful and cozy “cottage style” home.

I am going to work HARD at having at least two dates a month with my husband!

    Happy New Year!

  11. Thanks for all your great ideas!

It seems as if the end of 2008 was such a rush, I’m not where I normally am in the goal setting process. I have come up with the fact that I want two things in my life…more and less…more of some things and less of others.

    2009 Personal Goals:
More…attending church, exercising, organizing, photography, reflection, fun, and trying new things.
Less….weight…would like to lose 10% of my body weight, wasted travel time, stress, feeling overwhelmed, and feeling tired.

    Blog goals:
Create a publishing schedule and post a minimum of 12 times per month.
Learn more about SEO and page rank.(there’s that more word again!)
    Update my site.

We are on the same page with our resolutions.

I’ve been wanting to do the 365 for quite some time, maybe if we switch cameras, lol.

Sometimes the random posts are what keep people coming back!

Have fun on the “top secret trip” ;-).. I look forward to meeting you at SXSW!
