I was recently invited to a media event in Galveston, Texas where Carnival Cruise Lines, donated $100,000 to Operation Homefront. It was a day of celebration, honoring military families, featuring the lovely Martina McBride. She’s definitely no stranger to supporting the military and you could tell she was humbled and proud to be present for the event. And of course, it couldn’t have been more perfect to celebrate it all on the Carnival Freedom!
Me and my family drove 8hrs just to be at this event and I’m so glad we did. Of course, seeing Martina McBride in a Carnival Live concert was amazing, but I also got to talk to people who have served and some that are still in our military, which was what it was really all about.
Upon arrival, before boarding, we were all in the holding area where I immediately saw those who serve our country. I saw several service dogs and there was red, white, and blue everywhere. You could just feel the pride among everyone. We were quite patriotic ourselves, including my husband and youngest who were sporting USMC shirts. We chose this branch for a couple of reasons, 1) my dad was a Marine (as well as several in the family) and 2) my oldest son, Tyler, ships out to USMC bootcamp on April 27th.
Seeing Carnival present a check for $100,000 to Operation Homefront, was awesome! When you see and hear stories from the military families, you know that this money is needed and greatly appreciated. In fact, if you go to the Operation Homefront website, you’ll see immediately how you can give.
I encourage you to support our military, their families, and those who support them. It’s the very least we can do for what they do for our country and for us!
Martina McBride was pretty awesome, I gotta say. I’ve always been a fan of her songs and the messages/stories that they convey. And y’all, hearing her sing Independence Day was amazing! It was breathtaking to hear the crowd sing along and get so pumped up! We were all waiting for her to sing it and you could tell! If you don’t know already, Carnival Cruise Lines offers a fantastic lineup of musicians on select cruises to perform live, aka Carnival Live! It’s pretty awesome. I know my friends are cruising one in March, featuring Little Big Town. It was awesome to see Martina Live on the Carnival Freedom so I can only imagine how awesome a concert would be on an actual cruise. Talk about an awesome vacation!
