A while back, on Facebook, I mentioned that Epson sent me the MovieMate 60 Projector and omg, it’s the most awesome thing ever! PERFECT Father’s Day Gift by the way!! I have to be honest with you though. When I was first asked if I wanted to review it, I thought it would be cool but I had no idea it would be THIS cool! We’ve had so much fun with this unit that I wonder how we went without it. When me and Toby first got it out, we watched Iron Man and played Halo all night outside! It was so awesome!!! It’s the easiest thing ever to setup, in fact, Toby did it all. He had the instructions in hand and only had to look up one thing to make sure he was doing it correctly.
I was shocked at how huge the screen is and we didn’t even get it to the max! I guess we were so excited about how big it was already that it didn’t even occur to us see how much bigger it could get but just so you know, it displays an 80″, widescreen image from just 7.8 feet away, or a 120″ image from just 11.8 feet away. **Insert Tim Allen Grunt** That’s what I’m talkin’ ’bout! The clarity was great and much better than I expected it to be for sure. It plays DVD’s and you can hook up your games on it like we did. We used the HDMI cable for our Xbox360. It was the coolest thing playing Halo while sitting on patio chairs, with the stars a-shining! Iron Man looked great and the sound system in this baby ROCKS! WOOO, I get chills thinking about it all! LOL
This is not the best quality because it was still very light outside but once it got darker, the quality is exceptional. Plus I didn’t have a smooth surface to view it on and when it gets dark, I really don’t need one. It shows up great when the “lights go out”
Soooo, it just occurred to me but HELLLOOO, did someone say Karoke?!?! OMG, you’d be the best host on the block bring this baby out! I don’t know what else to say except that its’ pretty dang awesome and I LOVE it so much! Because we have so many blu-ray movies, I’d love to have one for that but I’m completely happy with this. It’s a must-have and I highly recommend it for a Father’s Day Gift….What a great way to spend time with the family. Can’t you just imagine everyone outside hanging out playing games, watching movies, singing karoke..omg, too much fun! Y’all should check out the Great American Movie Night website. Totally worth the click;)
Do y’all own one? Or have you been around one? I’d love to hear about it!
Thanks Epson for sending this for review…it’s the most awesome thing ever!
Oh WOW! That is SO COOL! I’m completely jealous! I love all the pictures, though it just made the jealousy worse. Very cool product, I wonder if they are being sold in Canada yet…
That is an awesome way to spend some summer nights projecting a movie like the good ole days of out door drive ends. But if the bugs get to bad, or weather acts up, one still can move the projector indoors. Regardless, it looks fun.
Movie, popcorn and OK, who drank the last Dr Pepper….Lori have you been in my frig?
ROFL!!! Ummmm, more than likely it was me because I’m having withdrawals darn it!!!
We actually did use it in our house and this was so cool because the boys each have an Xbox so they set up the projector on side of the living room and hooked up the other Xbox to our 50″ TV…then they played with each other so they both had HUGE screens! It was cool:)
I have no clue, you might check the website out but it’s super duper cool!!
That looks so awesome!!! And look at that building you have to put it on, perfect! My brother has one of those and when the whole family comes over, we sit outside (during Summer months) and have a movie madness night! Great way to get the whole family together, and yes, so much BETTER than the theater! Great review :)
I am a huge fan of projectors and movie night at home. I have been looking for a new one, my the bulb blew in my old one so I figured we should just upgrade!! I want one that plays dvds. Thanks for the review and the tip about the giveaway. I am on my way to enter!
We are installing an outdoor theater this summer. I bet this is on my hubby’s list.
That looks awesome. Now I want one
OMG, Lori!! That is awesome! I need to get one for my house – the picture looks very clear. Thanks for sharing – I’m showing Matt this one! PS – I love seeing the boys in there!!
Wow, I need one of those. I love it! What a neat product. We are movie fanatics so this would just be great for us.
Lee :)
Um, I’m totally jealous! My husband would absolutely go crazy for something like this!
That’s SO cool! We’d love to get one. I entered to win one and a page popped up that said it ran through May 31st only. :-(
This is SOOOO cool! I would love to have one!
That looks fantastic! I don’t watch TV or movies very much, but I know a few families who would LOVE that product!
How cool this looks, I really want one! It seems like a lot of fun, especially when the it gets dark. I clinked the link and entered to win one, thanks. And your boy is funny!
Wow that is one awesome electronic. I would love love love one of these. Where is Alison playing her games? Oh she’s outside sharing with the world. Haha, now that would be awesome for like multiplayer games. You can actually see stuff if the screen is split!
Lucky you to be able to review it!
You had me at Halo. All three of us (Hubs, Chubbs, and myself) are Halo fans and would be over the moon to play on such a huge screen! Did you try hanging a sheet to see if the quality stayed the same? We’d have to do that since there isn’t a flat part of our house that would work, but I do have a bare wall in the playroom…hmm… :)
Wow, that is so unbelieveable and a great way to spend family time! The concept reminds me of when I was younger growing up. Everybody’s parents back in the 50s and 60s took family photos on a movie camera. The movies were played back on a projector that had reels of tape. Back then, many of the new homes being built in the suburbs that were being developed had “picture windows” in their living rooms. My late inlaws had a shad that pulled down on theirs.
When I was dating my then future husband, one of the fun things they did was to play back movies of him growing up as a child, and we’d all sit around watching and shootin’ the breeze.
So they’d pull down the shade, and project the movies on the shade. We enjoyed the movies and I’m sure the neighbors did too!
Technology has advanced but it’s great that Epson is bringing back the concept of family time together!
WOW simply WOW! That looks like an amazing product girl! I am jealous .. LOL .. seriously I am. I am also happy that your family can enjoy such a wonderful product!! Looks like a great find!!! Good review too!!!
Clicked your link and tried to enter the contests but it says it ends on May 23! :(
WOW! That looks really amazing! How fun would it be to be outside with a campfire, a movie and popcorn?!
Sigh. I would love to sit in my pool and watch a movie. That thing is awesome! How about I just come to your house? I mean your in Texas ( my favorite place ever and I miss it) and I can watch movies too! lol But seriously – that could be the most useful and fun thing during the summer!
That thing is AWESOME!!! If we were in Texas I would totally stop by!.Thanks for the great review!
Ok now that is really cool!
I saw this post the other day and I forgot to leave a comment. My husband is a projector freak! He loves projectors. This one looks amazing because you are watchign it outside and the sun wasn’t completley set. We’ve used a few different projectors but this one looks like the best so far. But of course Epson would make the best.
that thing looks so cool. My BFF has one similar to that, and she sold her regular tv and just uses that all the time now
I love it! Truett in his underware in the yard…..just like when mine were little! LOL
Thanks for the article, I’ll have to look into getting one of those for my self now.
