Handmade Chihuahua Spurs for LB

By A Cowboy's Wife | January 3, 2010

It’s been a while since I’ve showed off my husband’s work, mostly due to him not building anything lately but he had this one pair of spurs to build.  This one pair that he was dreading because he doesn’t really take orders for Chihuahua spurs ’cause, well, they’re sort of a pain to build.  I was very proud of how these spurs turned out. I think he did a fabulous job with them!  He was sent a drawing of what the fella wanted and he did well at putting it to real life.  Anyways, here they are………his first pair of 2010!

Guess I should update his site by adding these lovely pair of spurs!

Beautiful! My uncle makes some pretty amazing pieces of art out of sheet metal and it takes him days… I can only imagine how much work these spurs must be. He must really love to create beauty from virtually nothing!

Those are some fancy stepping spurs there. He did a great job. Hubby just has his regular old star spurs from his old bull riding days. He’s losing weight so maybe soon he’ll be able to sport his chaps around the house for me. Yee Haw!

As usual, he has produced a fine pair of spurs.

The chihuahua spurs look great. Rooster should get some business from this picture. He may not like to build the “chihuahua” spur but I bet he gets some requests. When will Roooster finish bluing my two pair and return them?

Hi Art, we had to order more blueing finish since we didn’t quite have enough. None of our stores carried it. Sorry! We just got the finish in yesterday though and we’ll get them done and out to you asap.

      Have a wonderful New Year!

What exactly is the difference between a “chihuahua” spur and any other spur? Sorry, but I’m cowboy lingo challenged :-)

I Chihuahua spur has a BIG rowel. That round star looking thing at the end. And they usually have some fancy cut out like where the band connects with the rowel. They also usually have big chunky bands where all the silver and brass is on . Regular spurs have the connection but not a cut out and def not a big rowel like that and a smaller band.
