After witnessing the ugliness of social media this past couple of years, I’ve decided to encourage conversation here, on my blog, versus Facebook. In true OG fashion, I’m going back to my blogging roots to just share life. I’m not working with some brand or collaborating with a PR company. I’m just being me, the best way I know how.
Does anyone read blogs anymore? According to an Instagram poll I did a while back, that’s a big fat nope. So why would I even bother to write? I guess I figure it will serve as a journal of my thoughts or an outlet for my, less than par, creativity. Maybe it will give someone hope, laughter, or offer encouragement. Perhaps it will even give future family generations a glimpse of who I am after I’m long gone. Honestly, I have no clue why I’d take the time to write. I just feel like it.
And I don’t know if it’s because I’m getting older (45 now) or what but I find myself going against the grain more and more in all sorts of things, not just going old school blogging. Take my photography for example…..I LOVE the photos I see shared by pros that are featured in magazines. You know the ones, the ones that are crisp with clarity and perfect saturation and composition. Wedding, family, portrait photographers are awesome at what they do but none of that is for me. I like vintage. I like texture. I like something more than fixed poses. And while that makes it much harder for me to earn any kind of income from it, I’m okay with it because it makes me happy.
With 15 years of blogging under my virtual belt, I’ve received some of the rudest comments ever. But I’ve also received some of the greatest comments & gifts from people I didn’t even know and that sort of agape is priceless. I hope to find that again as I begin this blogging journey, again.
