Capturing and Creating Photo Memories

By A Cowboy's Wife | November 16, 2019

This post was created in partnership with Best Buy.  All opinions are my own, as always.

You know how some people love books because they love to feel the page in their hand as they read? Well, that’s how I feel about photos.   There’s something about having a printed photo in my hand, something tangible that I can look at, hold, and reflect on that makes me feel happy.  In 1993, I achieved this with a good ol’ Polaroid Camera. Today, I’m doing creating photo memories with the Polaroid Originals Lab Printer. Sounds hi-tech huh?

I can’t help but get sentimental this time of year.  For the first time, in 1 1/2 years, all 3 of my boys will be home & together with me and my husband.  I’m overjoyed with the very thought of it.  Something as simple as creating a homecooked Thanksgiving meal for them fills me with emotion.  That memory reminded me of the very first Thanksgiving dinner I prepared when the oldest of my 3 boys was only 2 months old.   I was so proud of myself that I took a photo of it to capture the moment.

We can’t wait to create new memories and photos over 25 years that will have this same look.

I love technology and all the advancements that have come with it but there’s nothing that can replace having a physical photo, of some of the greatest memories, in your hands.  Polaroid has made it possible for you to do this in a new way all while still giving you the same joy and happiness as they did back in 1993.  I got to fiddle with their new Polaroid Originals Lab Printer and it’s pretty stinkin’ cool, y’all.

You might be slightly perplexed at first glance but it’s actually extremely simple to use!

  1. You’ll need to download the app.
  2. Load the film.
  3. Turn it on.
  4. Using your app, pick your photo.
  5. Lay the phone on top of Polaroid Lab and push a button!

I love it so much!  It takes about 15 minutes for your photo to be fully developed.   The vintage feel that the Polaroid Lab provides just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside!

Seriously, how awesome is that!  It doesn’t print them but, instead, transforms them from digital to analog.   It stays charged for a long time and you can get color or black & white film for it!

Something all my boys love to do is thumb through our photo albums and I think it would be fun to make a scrapbook using the Polaroid Lab.  On each photo, either write the date & event or maybe a fun memory from that day.  How neat would that be to go back and look at when they are older?

This would make a great gift idea for someone or just for yourself.  I know that I can see myself coming up with all kinds of ideas like collages, scrapbook pages, and I even have an idea for an ornament!  In other words, keep checking back because ideas are flowing!  Plus, when all my boys come home, I’ll take new photos!!
