A Simple Way to Donate to Your Child’s School

By A Cowboy's Wife | September 3, 2015

Box Tops for Education are a simple way to donate to your school. If you’re throwing those box tops away, then you’re throwing money away.  I’m here to show you just how easy it is to shop & give.

Box Tops for Education - General Mills

Chances are, you already buy many General Mills products that have the box tops on them.  During certain times, you can find bonus box tops!  If it’s something I buy anyways, I always try to find the packages with the bonus box tops.

It wasn’t until I heard our PTO volunteers talk about the box tops, that I started to realize just how important every dime was to them.   And that is, in fact, what every box top is worth, one dime.   It was things like the box tops for education that allowed them to purchase books and school supplies for our school.   Something you might now know, is that Box Tops for Education has contributed over $525 million to participating schools since the launch of the program in 1996.  WOW!

Box Tops earnings for Highland ISD

I think alot of the time, we don’t realize how much of an impact it can do and how our 5 box tops might not make a difference but seeing how are school is able to allocate those funds to help our students of Highland ISD, it just encourages me to save every single one.  Last school year, our PTO organizers collected enough to earn $918.30 bucks for our school!  That’s almost $1000 y’all! And in case you didn’t figure that up, that’s 9183 box tops.  We are a small school and every box top counts!

Not only am I helping the school, that all our boys attend (or have attended), I’m teaching Truett a lesson in giving, saving money, and donating.  All are valuable lessons for him to learn and this is one simple way for him to see that first hand.

So before you toss that packaging, take 2 seconds to cut that box top out!  Stick them in a ziploc baggie and when it’s time to turn in, give them what you got!  It counts!

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of General Mills®. The opinions and text are all mine.
