Back to School, In Style

By A Cowboy's Wife | August 13, 2013

School shopping is one of my most favorite times of year. My office gets new supplies, we all gotta eat lunch, and kids get brand new clothes!

‘Cause Truett is only 6, his clothing style is pretty basic.  He doesn’t need or want anything special, except good shoes, and loves to pick out all his graphic tees.   We also buy a few polo shirts, Wrangler snap button shirts, and quite a few graphic tees.  We usually pay between $3-$8 for shirts at our Walmart; polos and graphic tees around the lower end price point and Wrangler shirts a little more.  Truett’s jeans are usually about $8 bucks. The ones in the picture are slightly carpenter style and were priced at $12.97.

If you’re looking to spend even less, you can buy plain colored tshirts for $3 or $3.88 at Walmart but we usually spend $1 more and buy the graphic tees.  Since Truett can read now, he loves picking them out, which shows his personality some.  The $1 more is worth it for him, to be him.

Most of Truett’s underwear lasted all year. The only reason we bought new ones is because he outgrew them.  I feel like underwear also show personality and always let Truett pick his own. He’s all about briefs and loves design.   White socks are boring so this year, we opted for Starter’s 6 pack that has colored bottoms.  They were only $4.97 and were much more fun.  The bottoms are thick and soft, making them very comfortable for the active feet.

Honestly, I always find the best deals at Walmart for our clothing basics.  Truett will outgrow them or wear them out in no time so why spend a fortune, you know?  Toby will most likely get his clothes at a higher end store but he even still chooses to buy his shorts, tshirts, socks, and underwear from Walmart.

How much do y’all spend on school clothes? OH! If you’re looking for something extra cool, check out these Light Ups!

And just because he’s so darn cute……
