Did you know that you can use essential oils and baking soda to create an amazing carpet deodorizer? I’m sharing three simple blends to make your home smell amazing, purify those yucky smells, and just a little tidbit….spiders don’t like it much!
I have three boys, all of which smell of something on a regular basis. My 8 year old’s room, well…….let’s just say that, whether it was accident or not, he marked his territory in the middle of the night. I didn’t notice at first and I’d say it was maybe three days before I really got a whiff of it. I drug out the carpet shampooer and cleaned that carpet. Unfortunately, I could still smell it. I decided to whip up some carpet deodorizer using baking soda and essential oils and holy cow y’all, it completely wiped out that smell and the room still smells so clean!
Here are three carpet deodorizer ideas that will help purify, make your room smell amazing, or keep spiders away!
Using a pint size mason jar, add 1 cup of baking soda and your choice of oil, and shake well. You can also poke holes in the top of your mason jar but I just open my up and spread around.
- For Purifying the air, add 15 drops of Young Living Purification Essential Oil, or
- For a smell summer smell good home, use 15 drops of Lemongrass, or
- to keep the spiders away, use 15 drops of Peppermint!
I actually LOVE Purification and Lemongrass together. Smells AMAZING! If you do decide to combine them, just use half..so 7 or 8 of one and 7 or 8 of the other. I put it on the carpets and in the bottom of the trash bins. Make a HUGE difference!
Is this something you already do? What’s your favorite blend to freshen your carpets?
