eLiving Media (ELM) is Social. Simple. Smart.

By A Cowboy's Wife | August 1, 2010

While I love being a mom and mom blogging, I have always wanted, well, a little more stimulation.  I think that when you’re a mom, you lose track of being a woman; and there is a difference.  I wanted to create a community where we could chat, learn, and mentor.  With a diverse set of topics, there will be endless conversations that are dynamic and interesting, attracting a large audience.  eLiving Media {ELM} is that.  And while I feel like women will be the audience majority, men are welcomed and encouraged to partake in discussions and contribute.  In fact, I’m thinking of changing colors just a bit to make it more male friendly.

There is still content being added, tweaking to do, and features to roll out but I’d love for you check out some of the author’s posts, consider being part of the mentorship program, and join the community.  Members will be offered super awesome giveaways ALL the time, but you must be a member.  A few more sections to take note of:

ELM TV–This is where we will hold LIVE web cast shows and where videos will be showcased that our authors and community contributors created.  AND, we even added a video comments just so you can really get personal and tell us in your real life voice what you think!

Mentorship Program–This is something that I wanted from the beginning.  Without mentors, it would have taken me MUCH longer to get to where I am and I’m extremely grateful that they gave their time, for me, and asking nothing in return.  I am now at that point where I can give back and I hope that you all feel the same way.  You can be a mentor to anyone in a diverse set of topics. Maybe you crochet really well and wanna help others to learn.  Perhaps you’re awesome at organization?  I know a lot of folks who could use help in that department.  And you proteges, you want to learn SEO, or how to write an ebook, or learn more about finance.  The ideas are endless.  We just need you to step up and ask for help or offer your time to help.

PR Connection–I’ve had the fortunate pleasure of working with public relations since 2007.  I feel that with my reputation and reach, I can unite PR with appropriate bloggers and nonbloggers with opportunities to get their product seen and used by many.   And while PR heavily relies on stats to make their choices many times, I hope to change that bit and show them that numbers aren’t everything. Finding those who are passionate, honest, and genuine will be the ones that take their products to those levels they want.   And because members of ELM will also be contributors (soon),  they will have the opportunity to be involved in campaigns to be published at ELM. What that really says is that you don’t have to be a blogger to participate in this program because you’ll have a community that will help you spread the word and make the campaign a success.

Forums–You can’t have a community without some kind of way to communicate and just be there for each other.  The forums will act as the core of the community where we can ask questions, share ideas, and help others.

Giveaways–Some people won’t like that you have to register for ELM to enter but you know what? I really don’t care. I’m not a big fan of giveaways on personal blogs so this is my way to still share them, see people get excited about winning, and reward the members for being part of the community.

I cannot even begin to thank everyone that has helped me get to this moment but I do have to give a special shout-out to  Debbie Lawrence who has been AMAZING. She has put the whole site together pretty much and has spent so much time with me on skype showing me things, asking how I want this or that, and well…making it awesome.  I wish she lived closer to me ’cause I’d give her a GREAT big hug and kiss!  She is multi-talented and clearly a kind & genuine person (regardless of her sometimes vocal ways;).

I also want to say thank you to Christy for stepping in and helping with the forum! She made it so pretty & functional!

The authors of ELM have been fantastic.  They’ve been adding content and making it so that you have something worthwhile to read.  Aside from myself, we have Jennifer, Liz, Paula, Carolina, Louise, Connie, Adrienne, Leigh, and Dwan.  Please visit their posts and comment.

Be sure to subscribe to ELM and to the monthly newsletter!  We are on Facebook and Twitter too!

A community can only thrive with the help of you.  An active community creates friendships, work,  and opportunities.   Hope to see you there!

I’m new to this blog but was already hooked with the first sentence about there being a difference between being a mother and being a woman. So many young women believe that their purpose is to have children. But what example are their children going to learn from that? Being an individual and not just a mother will give them the most valuable life lesson they can ever learn. I am looking forward to your other posts!
