In Local News: Highland Hornets are Going to State!

By A Cowboy's Wife | December 5, 2009

UPDATE: Let’s show sixman football some love okay?

Borden County vs Highland 2pm. Garden City vs Strawn 7pm.
Shotwell Stadium on Saturday. Home teams listed last.

This is CONFIRMED:)

Last night in the Friday Night Football Semi-Finals game at Early Texas, the Highland Hornets pulled of an outstanding win against the Walnut Springs Hornets.  Walnut Springs had some great plays, awesome trick plays and had a center (#88) who was hard to take down but Highland had a powerful defense and strong offense team that just couldn’t be beat.

We are super proud of our football team and the coaches.  Them boys played hard all year and deserve to be in the State game.   A big shout-out to the cheerleaders & spirit team for pumping the guys and the fans up!  One more thing I want to say.  I am extremely proud of Highland’s sportsmanship.  They are kind to the players, coaches and refs.  They deserve to be noted for that.

Next Saturday is the State Championship.   Do we want to win? Of course we do, but we are proud of the Highland Hornets no matter the outcome.

Good Luck Highland and we’ll see you next week!

Congratulations to the boys! That is a huge accomplishment and I am sure everyone is proud that they have made it this far. Good luck at state!

Congrats! That’s my hubby’s football coaching dream… obviously. ;-) Love a small town team (ours is 8-man). Our 4yo boy joined in the after-game team prayer every single week. :)

Sounds like your team and everyone involved is great! I love it when I see (experience) community spirit like that! Our team went to state for the first time in TWELVE years this year! It was amazing. The team they played (to whom they lost, but, like you say, we were just proud to go!) was in a pretty bad, crime-heavy area. So everyone thought it would be an ugly match-up. Nothing could have been farther from the truth. The people there were amazing – nice, friendly, and super helpful. I didn’t get to go (migraine) but, it was wonderful to get to hear about it from everyone.

Congrats to your team and GOOD LUCK!!!
