Keeping Y’all in the Loop

By A Cowboy's Wife | August 4, 2013

Hey guys, I just wanted to apologize for the lack of posts and update you as to what’s going on.  I know that most of you do not follow me on other social media sites so I just wanna keep y’all in the loop too.

family
2009 Vacation – Toby, Tyler, ‘Pop’, and Truett

On Monday the 29th, 2013, my dad had heart surgery.  Unfortunately, he had complications.  Serious ones. On August 3rd, 2013, Jesus gained another Angel.  He was very much a believer so I take comfort in that but as you can imagine, it’s a very hard time for us.

I’ll have various posts publishing soon that are sorta random. I ask that you bear with me as they are published.  As I’ve always shared, this is my job, and work must go on.

If you’re one of those that say “some day” “one of these days” “yeah, we should do that”, etc…….try to follow through, because you just don’t know when your time is up.  You can read his obituary here.

Lori, my heart goes out to you! I’ve lost both of my parents, so I know how hard it is. I wish I could take away your pain, but that’s something that only the Lord can help ease. May He comfort you with the comfort that only He can give. Your family is in my prayers!

My heart goes out to you and your family. The death of a loved one is not something you want to experience, but since it is inevitable, we all must go through it. You won’t get over it, but it will get a little better with time. There will be days when you want to call them to tell them something that happened, something funny you saw, ask them about something, and then you remember you can’t. Just remember all the wonderful memories you shared with them. They will always be in your thoughts and in your heart. I hope and pray that your days will get easier.

So sorry for you loss. It is sooo very hard when you lose a parent. I was a a Daddy’s girl and I lost him to cancer in 2001, but I will get to see him and my mom some day. Take comfort in knowing that people care. This is not the end – you will see him once again in Heaven. He will have a new body and he will be in no more pain. God bless you and yours. – Teri

I’m so sorry, Lori. I lost my dad a few years ago, so I know how difficult it can be. No only are you living with the pain of losing a loved one, but somehow life must go on. It does get better with time, but things will never be the same. You’ll be in my thoughts and prayers.

Miss Lori-I am so sorry for your loss. I too have lost both of my parents so many years ago but it still hurts missing them so much. My Dad was the cook at our house growing up. I was shocked when I went to my friends house and their Mom’s was cooking. If this your first parent to pass away please get ready because your whole life is fixing to change and go a completely different direction that you never dreamed about. I can’t explain why this happens but it does. I lost my last sister in 1-21-2012 I miss her so much that my heart contracts each time I think of her. We have a In Memory of Retha Rankin O’Shield on facebook, Look it up because I want you to know we all love you and your family during this hard time.

Lori, I want you to know how very sorry we are for your loss. Your Dad was a wonderful man, and you are so blessed to have had him in your life.
We’re sending prayers to your entire family for comfort and understanding. I totally know your pain and I know too as so many have said, that only time and the Lord can ease it. If there’s anything that you need, please do ask. I know people say that all the time, but I honestly mean it.

I just clicked over to read his obit and got a cold chill. Your Dad and I share a birthday, the exact same day, same year and sadly he died on the same day as my mom in the same hospital. I know oddities, but wow!

    Love ya girl!

Hi there, I just found this blog tonight, and don’t know where to start – sympathize with you for the loss of your father, or congratulate you on your beautiful blog. Well, I’ll do both.
Thank you for sharing your grief and your life with strangers. It makes the world seem a whole lot smaller (I’m from Tasmania, Australia)
