Hammering, drilling, sawing……that’s all I’ve been hearing for the past week as the old is ripped out and the new is brought into my kitchen. Mind you, I’m not complaining one bit but it has been a long week of eating in town (which has been a bit expensive as well), but to see the transformation is so gratifying. I think that when you get to watch the renovation take place, step by step, you have an appreciation for the amount of work that goes into it.

We moved all the kitchen stuff into the dining room and what a mess that made!!! Holy cow, I have a lot of kitchen stuff now! Clearly I have ample Wilton baking pans, skillets, and sauce pans!

When the guys arrived, the first thing they did was immediately start tearing down the cabinets and you know what? It was a task that came much easier than they expected. In fact, the one fella literally used his hands to pull down the top cabinet. It came down THAT easy. No tools needed, just a little muscle. He was like, “I can’t believe they haven’t already fallen down.”

Tearing things up and out always seem to move pretty fast don’t you think? Much like a mess in your home I suppose. We can accumulate a tornado of a mess in our living room in 2.5 seconds but cleaning it? Well, that takes 2.5 days.

Anyways, they continued to tear the cabinets out while I snapped photos and watched. There were a few surprises along the way but nothing too major. Before I knew it, the kitchen was cleared out and empty!
That was day one!   WHEW! I’m tired and all I did was watch! More to come…like the cabinets, Wilsonart Sink, and the HD Laminate!!!
Have you done any kitchen renovations yourself or hired someone else? What was your experience?

So cool. I love following your blog!
Great. I wish that I could gut my kitchen. If you don’t mind sharing how much would something like this cost?
