Obama has announced the death of Osama Bin Laden.
It’s a historic day regardless of how you feel about the subject. He caused so much pain for so many people and I hope that this is a tiny bit of closure to those families affected on 9/11.
“U.S. Operations have killed Bin Laden” are words Obama spoke, that will be remembered. May 1, 2011. There was a brief gunfight, Bin Laden was shot in the head at least once and his body retrieved by military.
How do you feel about it?
Honestly it just feels kind of anticlimactic to me. They’re been saying for years that they suspected he was dead, so I kind of wonder if they were hiding the truth all along…
Honestly, a bit relieved. Since 9/11, that guy gives me nightmares.
Finally, vindication for all the US lives lost during 9/11 and in the wars that began afterwards….Hate that Obama is taking credit for it…but nevertheless, America stands true to it’s word. Don’t mess with the US!
Honestly, it’s not his death, it’s the celebration I’ve seen – how has it been any better than when the international press showed the dancing in the streets after 9/11?
This is from one of my favorite authors (Liz Curtis Higgs) on her FB status today, and I totally agree:
I have no wish to dwell on how or why bin Laden’s life was ended. Rather, it’s our jubilant, celebratory response that weighs on my heart: “Do not gloat when your enemy falls; when he stumbles, do not let your heart rejoice…” Proverbs 24:17
I’m glad he’s gone…one less well-funded terrorist with a grduge against America is probably good…but I also worry about others trying to take his place. Having him gone does not give me any peace.
I’m also with Lori….I worry about the international reaction from our celebrating. I’m afraid it just fuels the fire of why so many people in the world don’t like Americans.
Hate that Obama has any credit for this “win” in our war against terrorism. I do not think it’s over, not by a long shot.
