Potato Peeler for Old People

By A Cowboy's Wife | June 8, 2011

Oh my gosh, I’m cracking up at the title because my mother actually uses this and bought me one!! LOL  No Mom, I’m not calling you old…cause then that would mean I’m old too.

This potato peeler, the Prep N’ Pop, is a really fun gadget.    My mom insists on the Kuhn Rikon Peelers!  She said no others compare to them and they are very budget friendly.

When she first took it out of the package, I wasn’t quite sure how it was gonna work but once she showed me and I peeled, it was so smooth and so easy.  It goes like this:

1. You stab the potato on one end with the long white poker thingamajig.

2.  Then, you simply take the peeler (that you get separately) and start from the top, peeling down.  it takes thin slices of skin off and is SUPER sharp!  I peeled in seconds!

3. Finally, you push the top down and it “pops” the potato out!  I peeled a lot of taters quickly.  It sells for around $16 bucks and you can only buy the Prep N’ Pop at QVC.

So whatcha think?  Would you buy it and use it?  Had I just seen it on TV, I’d say no but after using it, I really liked it and my Mom said it’s MUCH easier on her hands….it’s not that she’s getting older or anything like that…she just loves gadgets.  Right Mom?

I gotta say, I’m tempted. I peel potatoes nearly every night and I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve nicked a finger tip with my peeler … or let one slip into the garbage can … or let one fly across the kitchen.

I really loved using it Cat….I know that for years I’ve used this one particular knife to peel and without it, i can’t peel anything but I found this pretty useful.

      Hi Jackie,

I think that’s why my mom uses it too. She’s had surgery for carpal tunnel and really does have hands that hurt. I did the title for an inside joke with my Mom but I think the peeler would prove to be beneficial so I definitely recommend it!

Genius! One of those why didn’t I think of that gadgets! I’d love to use it to save my fingers and keep the taters from flying. I’d feel more comortable letting the kids help with this, too!

I think it’s a great idea! I don’t feel like I need it..;.but if I peeled a lot of potatoes, it would totally be worth saving my hands. Fantastic!

I leave theskin on my potatoes because they are such a pain to peel. My mom just uses a knife. I’m not that coordinated! May have to check this out!

I have snagged many nails so this actually sounds interesting. I peel my potatoes completely backwards from you. Pampered Chef peelers are by far my favorite.
