We went to visit some friends this weekend and along the path, we came across this wall in Colorado City. It’s a store actually but they ‘branded’ their side wall with all the ranches brands that reside in Mitchell County. There are some very cool looking brands on this wall. Every ranch has a brand. The main purpose of the having the brand is to keep people from stealing your cattle and horses. All the livestock get branded during the spring works. It’s lots of fun and one of the most favorite parts of the year for a cowboy.
Here is the entire wall.

This is a section of the wall.

And here is a SUPER closeup of just a few. You see the second one down on the right hand side that looks like a shovel??It’s right under the T….That is the Spade brand which is who my brother-n-law works for. OH, and there’s and L for LORI :D

I thought it was pretty neat. I’ve seen it many times passing through but thought I’d stop and take the picture just for you folks;) Enjoy!

That’s pretty cool!

that is neat! Thanks for sharing.
Oh wow, that is really awesome! I love it when communities do things like that! I have an online friend who lives in a town that has a wall like that that they allow every resident to put their signature on, which I think is a cool idea too! Thanks for sharing the pictures!

If you’ll notice in the second picture there is another “spade” brand that is the brand that is used on stock on the Renderbrook section of Spade. My grandfather worked for the Bassham’s for over 40 years. I spent most of my chilhood behind that archway. Enjoyed seeing it on your blog
