Smooth Operator

By A Cowboy's Wife | June 10, 2011

I love smooth rides because living on the ranch, it’s a rare thing.   When Chevy delivered a 2011 Chevy Tahoe Hybrid for me to drive around, I never expected to fall in love with it like I did.

The very first thing I noticed (aside from the green Hybrid on the side), was how smooth it drove.  WOW!!  Talk about impressed.  Maybe all new rigs are like that…I wouldn’t know, I haven’t had one ever.  I also thought it would be big and bulky but it didn’t even feel like like I was driving Tahoe.  It was so spacious, and of course the entertainment package rocked!  Truett had so much fun watching dvd’s in it.   We drove down the ranch road JUST to test it out for like 5 minutes and then drove back home.  He did not want to come out.

The inside was so comfortable.  I LOVED the seats. They just hugged you and felt so good, even after several hours of driving.   This particular rig was all setup with the goods and I loved everything about it. It had the rear safety feature for backing up.  It had XM, Onstar, a spot for my iPod, and lots of drink holders.

I mentioned it was a hybrid, meaning when it was going below 30mph, it would go into hybrid mode (electric).  That wasn’t something I did very often to be honest but I think for folks who live in bigger towns with lots of stop-n-go’s, it would be great.  Even without the electric usage, I got around 21/22mph. I thought that was great for a Tahoe.

I’ve tried and tried to find something I didn’t like about the Chevy Tahoe but honestly, there isn’t anything I don’t absolutely love about it.  Well…actually there is — the price.  I think this setup came in at around $60,000.  *GULP*  I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have this rig, I really would but I just can’t fathom spending $60,000 on something to drive.  I know that all new rigs like this cost this much but it’s just not something we could afford to pay for at this time.  One thing to note about buying a Hybrid though is that you can get a tax credit for it!!  So keep that in mind if making the purchase.

Once we’ve bought us our own ranch, we’ll be buying a new rig…it will be this Tahoe or a new Chevy Truck.  That’s a fact.

Disclosure: Chevrolet did send me the 2011 Chevy Tahoe Hybrid to drive for a couple of weeks.  Blogging about it wasn’t mandatory but I wanted to talk about it because  I truly did love it and I miss it every single day.  Opinions are my own, as always, but surely you know that by now.
