I realize it’s been a while since I’ve posted. Things have been crazy around here with the kitchen makeover, football, travel, and “the works”. We had a long weekend of football games and Truett’s birthday. Our Highland Hornets are doing alright. The Varsity lost 7 seniors last year so the team is basically being rebuilt this year with a few inexperienced players. Even so, they are doing a great job and have had some really tough competitors, most with senior starters. The JH is doing great and the JV..well, they are learning and making their way. Friday was a downpour at the game but it didn’t matter. Fans were inside their rigs and standing out in the rain, soaking wet. It was just too hard to stay inside the truck and not let them boys hear us rootin’ them on you know?
Anyways, because of the rain, the rodeo got canceled so we were able to celebrate Truett’s 4th birthday. His Pop & Nana sent him the cutest sleepover set that had a sleeping bag, flashlight, compass, and duffel bag. He LOVED it! He’s even sleeping in right now in his bed.

I think Woody and Truett are two of kind don’t ya think?
His other gift was the Thomas Train Set. We were scared to open for fear of a million parts, and while there were a few parts, it was super simple to put together. Each piece has a number on it and you have easy to understand instructions. Truett has been a HUGE train fan every since we lived over by Van Horn. We lived close to a train track..out in the middle of nowhere and he’d go crazy when he saw it. Even today he gets thrilled to see one so we knew Thomas would be embraced well. He loves the track and was able to figure out how to make the train take a different track. I was worried he wouldn’t get that but I guess 4 year olds are smarter than we give them credit for. When he didn’t have Thomas on the train track, he had him in the kitchen, on the counters, on the carpet, in the truck…..everywhere. It was a big hit!

And finally, we had a visitor this weekend. Truett called it Charlotte because he had just seen Charlotte’s Web. I was not too excited about the visitor but they say tarantulas bring rain…well, sure enough, we got over 4″ that weekend. I’d say the legend is true.

And with that, I’m headed to bed. It’s almost 1am and I’m mentally fried!
P.S. The Thomas Train Set was sent for my review. Opinions are our own. Truett truly did love it! Will be giving one away soon at the ELM forum so be looking for it….and enter some others while you’re there.

O.M.G.!!! If i saw a spider like that where I live I would literally die. I am so scared of them! LOL!
Could someone a bit braver than me borrow Mommy Cracked’s shoe and take care of that spider?
I remember Charlotte being much cuter in the book. My son *loved* Thomas the Tank Engine. Oh, what fond memories. Truett looks like he’s loving his new set. Happy 4th, little man!
