16 Years and Three Kids Later

Ever wonder where the time flies?  I don’t because it feels like we’ve been married FOREVER.   We’ve had our ups and downs like any other marriage but we are definitely at our happy place and have been for for the past few years.  We know each other so well.  I know how to make him laugh and that he hates being patted on the back.  He knows how to give me that look letting me know that he thinks I’m lookin’ good and that I hate being shoved in the mornings to wake me up.  (I like a rub on the arm, not pushed over to get up).  We are complete opposites,. In fact, we have very little common which works for us I reckon since we’re still together.

Three kids later, we are having more fun now than we did in our younger marriage years.  We are going places, doing fun things with the kids, enjoying the toddler years way more than when I was 18 and really proud of how we’ve raised our boys so far.  Do you ever wonder what your child is going to be like when they are older based on crazy things they did as a little fella?  My kids are great and while I don’t know what the future holds, I’m confident that we have left the communication lines open wide so that they can come to us with anything. I know they we are doing our job as parents, and good one I’d like to think.

I get tons of requests for a picture of me and my man so this Valentine’s Day, I had Toby take a picture of us.  Considering we only have around 5 or so pictures together, I’d say this was a very special Valentine’s treat.

    And @Arianne, I love that you could see that smile in his eyes! That’s how I can tell when he’s hiding or playing around….that hint of smile in his eyes.

    happy belated anniversary…i thought this was an anniversary post as well until i scrolled down the comments :) that’s a great photo of the two of you…16 years is a long time these days. heck, i’m on marriage #2 :-/ *sigh* i want one of those marriages that last awhile…hopefully this one is it lol

    What a lovely picture! Come to think of it, I don’t have very many of me and my hubby either. I have literally thousands of my daughter but only a handful of her daddy and I. I’m usually behind the camera and that’s pretty much where I prefer to stay.
