Let me begin by sayin’ HOWDY! If you’re reading this through your reader or email, then you’ve got to click-thru and check out the new blog makeover that A Cowboy’s Wife got. Over the past 3 days, the merge, of My Wooden Spoon and A Cowboy’s Wife, has been taking place. And let me tell ya folks, it’s perfect. It’s a 100% reflection of who I am and I couldn’t be more thrilled with how it turned out. While there are a few more things being worked on (like a custom recipe index), the majority of it is complete.
Why the Merge?
For the past 1 1/2 years, all I’ve wanted to do is withdraw and not blog. I lost my motivation, inspiration, and was just completely burnt out. I had worked so hard the previous years to get to a certain blogging level but it came with much sacrifice; sacrificing time with my family, having no IRL friends, and losing…me. Most folks who don’t blog, have no idea just how much work it takes to have any kind of success. And when you throw a food blog in the mix, well, it’s an obscene amount of work in a very competitive space that just makes it that much harder to be successful at. Luckily, I reached those levels and was blessed but then I simply grew tired. I missed my family and the normal things that moms do when they’re not blogging & being a social media maven 24/7. For a long time now, I’ve wanted to merge my blogs. I’ve always wanted one place to share it all, without the stress of creating content and maintaining 2+ sites. My wish has come true.
Reflection
You would think that I’d look back on those blah 1 1/2 years with sadness or regrets but to be honest, I’m extremely thankful. I was reminded of what’s really important, like being the wife & mom I needed to be and what it felt like to have lunch dates with friends and remembering how much I loved doing the little things like crochet, crafts, and taking photos. I am inspired daily by my family & friends and can now share that with you with peace and excitement. I may not be at the same blogging level that I once was but I am perfectly okay with that, because if I’m not staring at the screen constantly, it just means I have more time to stare at my kids & husband, with love & appreciation.
What to Expect
For all of you subscribers that came from my food blog, you can expect content in the following areas; DIY & Crafts, Tech Talk, Photography, Cowboy Lifestyle, All things Texas, and of course FOOD. There will be lots going on around here and I hope you guys participate by reading, sharing, and commenting. You can subscribe to updates via email. There will be special giveaways just for email subscribers so don’t miss out on that. If you have any thoughts or suggestions about the merge or makeover, please feel free to share with me.
And Finally…….
NONE of this would’ve been possible without the help of my tech gal, Debbie Lawrence. There’s no doubt she’s a code junkie extraordinaire & foodie, but she’s so much more than that to me. She’s a believer in all things good, even when that good is feeling bad. She’s one of the most opinionated gals I know but with a soft heart of gold. And even when I feel completely undeserving of her services & kindness, she still makes me feel special. I have a hard time expressing affectionate words and often regret not saying thank you enough so I can only pray & hope she knows how special she is to me. Visit her food blog ’cause it’s delicious and when you need some work done, please keep her in mind. And if you’re lucky enough, after all is said and done, you’ll have a new friend. Debbie did have graphic design help from Vanessa so pay her a visit too. She has a cute blog!
And with that, I’m off like a herd of turtles. Later y’all!
