We usually keep our Thanksgiving menu pretty traditional, like, very basic y’all. This year though, we thought we’d try a couple of new things, one of them being a corn recipe. We don’t really like creamed corn because of texture and sweetness but were wanting a creamier corn.
It was funny when the boys saw this cooking because they just had raised eyebrows and crinkled noses. They aren’t too keen on trying new things either but once they tasted it, they kept saying, “man, that’s really good corn” over and over again. YES!
This creamy corn recipe is very easy and if you absolutely don’t want to use the oven, I think you’d be just find by stirring the parmesan in the saucepan and melting it all together.
I buy the Herdez Authentic, Sweet Corn at Walmart and they have a very nice selection of Mexican spices too. We try and buy all our spices under the Fiesta brand. They seem to be more flavorful and aromatic to us. You’re probably wondering about adding cayenne pepper to a creamed corn but it’s really good and offsets the sweetness.
I’m always on the prowl for new recipes that might become a tradition in our home, as well as keeping the old ones. I love community cookbooks but also look online. Where do you get your recipe inspiration from?
