Fill the Truck with Toys, for Kids in Need #FilltheTruck

By A Cowboy's Wife | December 10, 2013

Giving brings smiles to those in need, and to the ones giving.  Every year now, me and Truett have had the opportunity to donate at least $100 in toys to Fill the Truck or Toys for Tots.  Truett always has so much fun picking things out and it’s teaching him what giving it all about.

This year Walmart has the same programs going on at their stores and you can donate a toy just by dropping it on the box.   And if you’re social media savvy, I’d love to see a picture of you donating or hear your story!  Just use the #FilltheTruck hashtag on twitter or facebook.   Walmart’s Fill the Truck works with the Salvation Army.  If you know me, you know I’m not a big fan of The Goodwill, only because they receive tons of donations and sell them for profit.   The Salvation is non-profit.  Every single donation is GIVEN to people in need, not sold.  This is my preferred way to give, this and our local Samaritan House.

If you see the Fill the Truck box in your stores, you can donate toys, clothing, coats, etc.  There are many inexpensive things you can buy to donate; hot wheels, board games, books, colors with coloring books, and so much more.

I also already saw the Angel Tree in our store so that’s another giving option for you. There are just so many ways to give because there are so many in need.  Replace that cup of coffee or fast food meal with a toy for child!  Let’s all do our part in making every child have a happy Christmas!

Disclosure: I am an official Walmart Mom. Walmart has provided me with compensation and gift card in return for my time & efforts to create this post. Opinions are my own, always.
