Keeping Christmas Decor Simple

By A Cowboy's Wife | December 5, 2013

With Christmas around the corner, people are decorating houses, homes, and trees.  And then there’s us.  We’re keeping our Christmas decor simple this year.   It’s not that we’re not in the festive mood or anything like that. We just feel like we can show our Christmas spirit with a few things spread out through the house vs lots of stuff in a couple of rooms.

When you walk into our house, you’re in the center of the living room and the dining room.  We decided on a shiny poinsettia placemat, found at Walmart, as a simple table centerpiece.  Isn’t it lovely!  You could probably actually make that!  I also wanted to have a candle, but not just a candle.  Better Homes and Gardens has all these lovely candle holder sets with jar toppers.  There are all sorts of styles and I went with the limited edition nativity scene.   The detail is great and the smell of the candle is divine!  My husband actually picked this out.  He said we don’t own any kind of nativity scene.  It definitely surprised me that he wanted it but I’m thrilled and it’s made a nice addition to the living room, and our house smells great!

We try to buy all our Christmas decor at Walmart because it’s an affordable, seasonal option.   I mean really, who wants to spend an arm and a leg on something that’s only gonna be up for around 30 days!  NOT me.  What are some of the decorations you use in your home for the Christmas holiday?  Oh! Something else we always do is buy a new ornament every year to add to our tree. Do y’all do anything like that?
