KitchenAid Needs 1000 Cooks! Will YOU Help?

By A Cowboy's Wife | June 23, 2010

Just the word Kitchenaid gives me a happy feeling but even more so when I see them doing kind & charitable things for people and partnering with Cook for the Cure.  Since I’ve had two family members both dealing with Breast Cancer, then it’s very important for me to participate and spread the word.

From July 16, 2010 to July 18, 2010, cooks across America will be Cooking for the Cure and you can join in to help the cause!  It’s very simple and goes like this:

  • Register to host a Cook for the Cure party, cookout, office party, or community dinner.
  • Download the donation forms.
  • Instead of asking guests to bring a dish, ask them to bring a donation to help fight Breast Cancer.
  • Submit your donations before September 10, 2010 to be eligible for the plate or whenever just to support the cause!

If you raise $50 or more, you will be sent a Pass the Plate serving dish.  Use this serving dish and pass it on. Tell the person you are passing it on to, about the cause and how it works.  Every time the plate is passed and logged at the website, Kitchenaid makes a $5 donation to the cause. Pretty freakin’ awesome!

And maybe you’re not into hosting parties and such….well consider doing this.  Create a meal for your family, call that your hosted party, and make the donation yourself!  You’re feeding the family of course but still supporting the cause!

What I plan to do is purchase one of Kitchenaid’s Pink kitchen products that supports the Susan G Komen cause and out of all the people who come and donate, I’ll draw a winner at my party to receive the Kitchenaid item!  It’s a win-win situation!  Some of the pink Cook for the Cure Kitchenaid products include:

So will you Cook for the Cure?!?  I sure hope so!  I’m headed to register now and will write about my party here!  If you host a party too, send me a photo and I’ll share it here with everyone! I’d love to see and hear about how your party went and donations earned, no  matter how big or small the amount is…IT ALL HELPS! You can see some other party photos over at Facebook!

To Celebrate the moment and the movement, I’m giving away a a KitchenAid 12 Cup Food Processor FIRE RED! WOOHOO!

HOW TO ENTER:

Leave a comment answering one of the following questions:

  • What does this cause mean to you?
  • Do you support other causes?  If so, which ones?
  • Besides the stand mixer, what is your favorite Kitchenaid product or what Kitchenaid product do you wish you owned?

Additional entry methods, each optional and must be left in separate comment to count.

  • Share on social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, etc.  Let me know where you are sharing.
  • If you host a party before this giveaway ends, send me a photo of your party to cookforcure@mywoodenspoon.com, then leave a comment here telling me.

This giveaway ends on July 5th.  Good luck to all.  In full disclosure, I was given the Food Processor to giveaway by Kitchenaid. It does not influence my opinion in any way. I LOVE Kitchenaid.

I need a food processor so badly!!!
I wished I owned their slow cooker. I love to slow cook food on the stove and I think having a slow cooker would make it so much easier for me to cook tasty home cook meals.
I love all of their pink products!!!
It is so awesome to see that they take Pay Pal!! I have some credit saved up, may need to go shopping!

We support breast cancer awareness & also St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. We are Partners in Hope so every month we have an automatic donation that goes to help. My husband has been to the hospital a few times and says that you can’t see those children and NOT do every thing you can to help.

I very much support this cause, since my mother had breast cancer, as well as others I know. She lost her battle 6 years ago with additional types of cancer. My siblings and I do the Susan G Komen Walk for the Cure every year on Mother’s Day and it’s so wonderful to see all those people out there supporting something so important.

My Aunt is a breast cancer survivor and I also have a 1st cousin, younger than me, who is a breast cancer survivor. In addition to breast cancer my family has also been plagued with lung cancer and brain cancer, so any cause to support cancer research is near and dear to my heart. Another cause I support is the Alzheimer Foundation. This is another disease that has plagued so many areas of my family.

I’ve been on the fence about hosting one myself Lori. Originally I was hesitant because I have out of state family in town during that time and I wasn’t sure if exactly what our plans were or if I wanted to add more responsibilities to that time frame. But now you’ve really got me thinking that maybe I can try to incorporate it into my guest hosting and don’t need to feel so much pressure to have a huge party in order to participate. My mother is a breast cancer survivor so this cause is very close to my heart. Hmm….let me ponder this one. :) Plus, my mother LOVES her KitchenAid food processor so it would be awesome to win one. I’d also love to try their hand mixer or cookware!

Yeah, I wanted to stress the importance of not making it a big deal if you can’t. I know that people can’t always gather up a whole bunch of folks to party so something small works just as well;) don’t make it stressful, have fun with it!

I support the cause of Breast Cancer as it runs in our family – including my little sister.

I also support research causes for ME/CFS – which is an illness that plagues our family and has been ignored by the government for over 25 years. I support WPI (Whittemore Peterson Institute for Neuro-Immune Disease) and CFIDS Association of America.

I’d love to own this processor! My husband and I just bought our daughter a KitchenAide mixer and we were all talking how I needed the processor! I’d also love to buy my daughter a cover for her mixer.

Both of my grandmothers have had Breast Cancer, my mom has already had some lumps removed but none of them have been cancerous, so my chances are high in getting breast cancer. My second grandmother actually cried for me when she found out she had it because she knew my grandmother on the other side already has it. Crazy huh? I guess that’s true love. Anways, I feel that I should do everything I can to help the cause!

My grandmother’s BFF, who is like a sister to her and close to our family was diagnosed last year with breast cancer, and then a few months ago, my grandmother herself was diagnosed with uterine cancer. Both are in their late 70’s and thank goodness both had surgery and are now in remission. This is a great cause to support research for a cure!

This is a very important cause for me. I’m doing my second breast cancer 3 day walk this coming November (60 miles!) I’m walking with my mom. This will be her 10th 3 day. She lost one of her best friends and several co-workers. I’m proud to be an online ambassador for the 3 day and to support such an important awareness campaign. I support things locally like my son’s school, our library and we donate to Goodwill often. Other than a mixer, an immersion blender would be great to have.

My favorite product is the KitchenAid 7 Quart Slow Cooker.

This cause is dear to me as I just finished a battle with cancer and was given the news on June 4th that I’m in remission. I have had several family members battle and overcome breast cancer. I support all cancer causes as well as birth defects and am a volunteer for Organ Donor Awareness.
I love all kitchenaid products and my toaster is my favorite. You can fix bagels without them getting stuck and the toasting options are great and user friendly for my children as well. I also like the hand mixer as I use it for more than just baking cookies, garlic mashed potatoes and pie mixes. Great products.

My mom feels like she fought for no reason, and now wishes that she would not of fought so hard. I want everyone to fight to find a cure, not only for breast cancer, but for all of them.

Fighting breast cancer has a very personal meaning to our family. My husband’s first wife (who was a friend of mine) passed away from breast cancer at the young age of 34, and I am raising her two children as my own. Eventually, I will have my stepdaughter tested for genetic predisposition to breast cancer, and that idea scares me to death. We participate in local events to raise money and awareness, and remember their mother with joy and sorrow.

Thanks for participating in such a worthy cause! Maybe someday we’ll see the end of breast cancer.

Just within my immediate family we’ve dealt with Breast, Lung, Skin, and Kidney cancer – all in the past 10 years. It’s taken 2 family members. Breast cancer is a cause near and dear to my family’s heart as well. I participated in my 4th Race for the Cure this year and am doing my second 60 mile 3-Day in November. I signed up for the Cook for the Cure program a month or so ago (I am party #35). I love your idea of giving one of my guest the opportunity to win. I might have to do that too.

Since my kitchen is red this would be perfect for me, and I already have the stand mixer. I also really need a cover for my stand mixer. I adore my kitchenaid toaster and can opener too.

My mother had breast cancer, so every effort to find the cure is VERY important. I also own a Kithenaid stand mixer which I love! It is also fire engine red, so it would match the food processor, if I win it. I support anything to do with animals, and I’d also like to try using a Kitchenaid slow cooker. Thank-you!

Although I have certainly known people with breast cancer (hard not to, when you are a nurse!), my family has been lucky enough to have escaped that particular scourge. So the Susan J Koman events to me mean mainly one of the best fund-raising processes to fight a deadly disease.

One of my sister-in-laws just told us she was going to the hospital next week for a mastectomy.
She waited and kept it to herself till the last minute cause she didn’t want to worry us and my 76yr old mother-in-law.
I thought it was very brave of her to carry the knowledge by herself for so long.
She is now doing very well and has all the support of her family and friends] behind her.

Ok so Yes I am a big supporter of this cause because it has affected my family members so this is something that is truly a part of me..I also support all types of cancer as we are Lynch carriers and it affects us before we are 30 years old..so I am very much into supporting causes surrounding cancer and do all I can
