San Angelo’s PRCA Rodeo – My Faves

By A Cowboy's Wife | February 21, 2010

What a lovely weekend this was. No twitter, no emails, and no blogging. Nothing but family and a good time. Every year, the owner of the ranch gives us tickets to the PRCA Rodeo in San Angelo, TX. We’ve gone both years we’ve lived here because they put on a heck of show. The rodeo announcer, Boyd Polhamus,  and the comedy clown, Lecile Harris (was also on Hee Haw back in the day),  are my faves but the entire event is well done. The music is perfect, the jokes are hilarious and the talent is amazing. During the days of the rodeo, you could attend the carnival, the craft shows and so much more but because we knew there was a big bull bash in Sweetwater, TX, we wanted to make sure we were back in time to support out own community. On that note, I’d like to say to my local peeps (and to everyone else) that’s very important to support your local events. If people don’t attend them, they’ll do away with them and then where does that leave your town? Show your support folks and keep your town thriving!

I took over a 200 photos while at the rodeo but these are my faves for different reasons. I don’t have the equipment to take great indoor action photos some there are some blurry ones.

What did you guys do this weekend?

Opening ceremony of course, honoring the Red, White, and Blue.

Six-time Wrangler National Finals Bareback Rider, Chris Harris

YEEEHAAAAW!

This Charro, Tomas Garcilazo,  is an icon at the Wrangler Nationals Final Rodeo.  He performs every single year and we enjoyed him a great deal.  Not only is his horse absolutely beautiful, he’s very very talented.  He ended the show by creating one HUGE loop with his rope while him and his horse were inside of it, loping around the arena.  Pretty fabulous!

These are GREAT shots! Wow, that is some mane, I’m glad I’m not in charge of grooming that.

First time poster although I have read the blog for a few months.

Chris Harris is my favorite. Why? Beacause that’s my last name too!

Not too may rodeos here in Ohio, but a few.
