School Supplies List Made Easy

By A Cowboy's Wife | July 20, 2012

It’s only a month until the new school year begins, which means school clothes and school supplies.  This year, Walmart has created a useful tool where teachers and parents can team up to make school supplies shopping easier.  Classrooms by Walmart is sorta like a gift registry. The teachers create the lists and parents buy what’s needed.  You have several options to shop in store, shop online, pick up in store, or even cooler–ship to the school.  I find that last option fabulous for donating school supplies to that specific teacher!

A couple of things that I love about this resource, is having a list of the most common supplies used for that grade level.  Also, to the left there is a link called ‘Other Essentials’ where I was reminded of something extras that will be needed like Clorox Disinfecting Wipes. I know Truett’s Pre-K teacher used these to clean up the tables.  She also used hand sanitizers, zip-loc baggies, and of course Kleenex Tissues.  I think with the hoohaa of school shopping we can overlook some of these things.

You can add all these items to your list and print it to shop in store.  The checklist comes complete with little boxes to check off once you get the item!  I love checklists! I’m a nerd like that! It’s important to always have list too. This prevents overspending you know?  If you’re as ‘supply happy’ as I get, you’ll end up buying everything just to have extra for yourself!

Truett’s Kindergarten class, as well as the 1st-5th graders will already have their supplies ready for them courtesy of Highland’s PTO group so my shopping was focused on Toby.  Since he’s in high school, and our teachers haven’t added a list yet, we went with the most common, recommended supplies that were on the Classrooms by Walmart site.  I think we did very well!  Here’s some of what we got.

Have fun shopping for Back to School!  I ain’t gonna lie, I LOVE shopping for supplies like this.  Geek at heart I am.

That is so awesome. As an educator, it would thrill me to recieve this! I know Toby’s teachers will be so appreciative.
