I cannot believe Truett turned 5 today. Wow, how time flies!! He’s such a big boy and was so excited about today. I made him an awesome car themed cake and he got some cool gifts. Aside from his presents, I wanted to share, with you, his party.
I went to Walmart and bought all sorts of goodies for his party. We got:
- Red, Black, and Yellow balloons. (.97 each bag)
- a balloon tank with Helium ($19.97) Love this! Comes with balloons but I wanted only those colors.
- CARS themed goodies – Bag of candy, Party Favor pack, blowouts, loot bags, tablecloth, paper plates, cups, napkins. $30
- 5 CARS for the cake $4 each = $20
- candles, icing, fondant for the cake $16
- Wrapping paper $2
That totals $95 bucks. You could have saved $18 by not buying extra balloons and buying Hot Wheels cars vs CARS cars. And depending on the cake you’re doing, you could have probably saved on the icing and fondant which ran at about $15 bucks. So $33 could have been saved easily. I’m usually not very themed but thought it would be fun this time around. In fact, if you’re not so set on a theme, I saw a great $.97 cent section that had all sorts of goodies for loot bags!
Truett LOVED the balloons!!! It was definitely a big hit and well worth the $20 bucks!!
I’m saving the loot for Truett’s class tomorrow but that was one of the things I did enjoy about the birthday section at Walmart. There were several themes to choose from and you could buy all of what you needed in one spot. They had the most popular characters out!
He posed and blew out his candles!
He got a few gifts but his biggest one was outside! Boy was he surprised and thrilled!! This truck is awesome!!
What kind of things do y’all do for your kiddos birthdays?

Good job on the cake mama! I have not used fondant yet.
He’s such a big boy! You did such a great job on the cake. I saw it on MWS. Love his little truck, Jay has a Craftsman, shaped just like Truetts! For Jay’s 3rd birthday, we had family over. I made him a dinosaur cake and we grilled. For his fourth, I may do a pirate theme since they are his new thing :). I gotta get planning. April’ll be here before I know it, lol.
