Sitting down to eat at the table is something that has always been important to our family. We have always believed in taking time for those moments, and as I reflect on those days, when my oldest two boys were little fellas, I’m not sure a week went by that we didn’t have Hamburger Helper ®.
We’ve been married for over 22 years and much of the beginning included lots of rationing of food. We always fell into hard times financially back then but we always made everything stretch as far as possible. Two things that were inexpensive were ground beef and Hamburger Helper ®. I knew we could afford that and so much of our young family years, we shared great laughs around a good ol’ Hamburger Helper ® meal. And that, by golly, is the truth.
So I was browsing the aisles of Walmart, I saw all those boxes and immediately, some of those family meal memories, when we lived in New Mexico and on the Fulton Quien Sabe Ranch, all came flooding back. They’re a buck fifty now (which is still extremely affordable) but 20 years ago, I could get them on sale for 2/$1. It’s funny the things I can remember….Oh, and if you’re into coupons, and you should be, here’s a great Hamburger Helper coupon®! Get it while you can!
In honor of National Hamburger month, I’m not celebrating a hamburger, but instead, I’m thanking Hamburger Helper® for having something affordable, that tastes good too. I’m thanking them for getting us through those difficult years of stretching every penny. And I’m thanking them for offering a huge variety so that we never grew tired of them. Here’s to you Hamburger Helper®! CHEERS!
Tonight, our family celebrates over Hamburger Helper® Crunchy Taco.
