You are here Food / Supper is Served Mom!

Supper is Served Mom!

By A Cowboy's Wife | May 9, 2010

My Mother’s Day was wonderful. I spent it shopping and eating out with my SIL’s family, taking flowers to my MIL’s grave, a chat telling my mom “I love you”, and spending the rest of the evening at home with my own boys. My husband bought me beautiful yellow roses and waited on me all evening but the best part was my supper. My husband and boys know that lasagna is my favorite food, but not just any kind, Stouffer’s Lasagna. In fact, a long time ago, I even shared that it would be part of my last meal (if I had to pick one). THAT’S how much I love it so you can imagine the surprised & excited look on my face when I saw that my boys were going to make me some! In fact, as soon as I realized what they were doing, I had to get the camera out!! Who knows, it may never happen again so I had make to get a photo!

Now normally I buy the family size Stouffer’s Lasagna that, when frozen, takes around 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes to cook but leave it up to my guys to find the Easy Express Stouffer’s Lasagna.  I’ll admit, I had not seen this version. You can cook it in the oven if you choose to but what’s cool, is that you can also cook it in the microwave in under 20 minutes. Ummmm, did you read that? No more waiting an hour+….18 minutes is all takes.  That’s what I’m talking about!  I don’t know why I hadn’t seen this because this is such a great time saver!  Anyways, Tyler did the “work” by putting it in the oven to cook, my husband was in charge of the Texas Toast *drool*, and Toby served me my supper.  My three-year old Truett just watched them all and sat at the table with me.  It was the neatest thing ever and the first time they had ever done that for me.  It really meant a lot.

So to recap, here’s how the evening went.  We played a few games together, watched a family movie together, and then they all cooked for me. It.Was.Perfect.  I couldn’t ask for anything more, well except ice cream of course, which we did have.  There’s a lot of things that my guys could have bought me or done for me but the entire evening is how I’d want it to be every time. Thank you sweethearts for making my Mother’s Day super special!

How was YOUR weekend/Mother’s Day? And have you seen this Easy Express Lasagna from Stouffer’s?  It just puzzles me that I’m such a huge fan but have NEVER seen it.  Oh and the reason they chose the microwave version over the other is because once our house gets hot, it’s really hard to cool off so they (they being my husband), thought it would be a great idea to try this version. Smart thinkin’ fellas!!!

That was super sweet of them! I haven’t seen that version, usually I just pick up the individual portion that microwaves in a about 10 minutes.

Thanks Lori, you really are sweeter than you let on. ;-) My Mother’s Day was actually REALLY nice. Hubby let me go shopping for some Wilton goodies, I’ve been making icing roses all night and he even cleaned out the garage. (something I’ve been begging him to do for months)

I think it’s great that the boys did this for you. You have a very special family, and even if it’s the first time, hopefully, it won’t be the last.

I have tried this version of stouffer’s lasagna (as I’m a huge fan of lasagna as well), but didn’t like it quite as much as the other..but it IS quick and keeps the house cooler. I’m sure in TX it gets a lot hotter than here in CO.

I’m glad you had a great mother’s day.

Happy Mother’s Day Lori! I’m not a Mom, well I guess I am for my cat! Does that count? lol

I buy the singles too. I haven’t tried some of the other Stouffer’s meals but I do love the cheese lasagna.

Great thanks. I will have to try this if it has a shorter cooking time. I usually add tons more cheese to it.

You know what? Spending time with the people in life who are important to you is all that matters. It is great that you have a supportive and loving husband who even remembered your birthday.
