Wilsonart Countertops Down to Five, Need Your Opinion! (Part Two)

By A Cowboy's Wife | May 4, 2010

As mentioned in my previous countertop post, Wilsonart HD is giving my kitchen a makeover with new countertops!  I had your help in the last round and went with the top five choices that everyone picked, including my favorite, which I won’t tell you,  and now need your help in this round.

It’s down to five samples. Five, that hopefully you can see a little better because they are 8×10 size.  It really made a difference in person. I could get a feel for what it would look like overall.  I’m so excited about this and it makes me want to completely redo EVERYTHING in my kitchen now!  Keep in mind when looking them over that I’ll be fixing up the wood cabinets; cleaning them up a great deal.  It’s kind of embarrassing to see how they look right now. I know I clean but I guess I don’t clean them as often as I should!  EEK!

Here are all five together. Then I’ll show you each countertop sample with a number by it.  Below all the photos, you’ll find a poll and just like last time, pick your absolute favorite one!  I’d love to have your help in choosing because I’m terrible at deciding on things.  Some of the photos are a little dark but it’s dark here and I didn’t want to wait until tomorrow! lol Here we go!

# 1 —> # 2 —> # 3 —>

# 4 —> #5 —>

Okay…Now it’s time to vote. You can only pick ONE.  Pick your favorite!  and Thanks for the help y’all!

I vote for #2 – do not like none of the others to go with the color wood in your cabinets. Hope this helps with your decision.

As you said, your kitchen is kind of dark, #2 gives light and looks classy!

I like number two because it’s a contrast against the darker wood tones. In my home I have really light colored wood and I’d like to someday replace my countertops with a darker stone, right now it’s a pale tannish countertop, so I have little contrast between the wood cabinets and countertops.

If it were *my* kitchen I would go with number 1 hands down, but number 2 as a backup. 4 and 3 would go better with lighter cabinets. And 5, yuck.

I picked number 4, only because it looks nice with the dark (to me) and since you take so many food photos I would think a less busy design would go nicely- but honestly, I love them all! LOL

    I like #1 and #4.
And I’d pick #1 b/c if you ever wanted to paint your cabinets white, cream or fabulous red, then that color would work with those and probably almost any other color you choose.

Oh crap I hate it when I get rambly but here I go anyway.
I can’t tell about #5, I’d need to see more.
If those cabinets were mine my first instinct might be to go for #4 because I love the light and dark BUT I think laminate can burn. I tend to put things down on the counter, sometimes hot. So no to #4.
I think #1 looks too dark but it might not look so in person.
    That leaves me with #2.

      Hi Valmg!

I work with Wilsonart and wanted to let you know laminate does in fact not burn. Like all countertops, we obviously advocate using potholders as much as possible, but there is really no way you could burn the laminate if doing normal day to day cooking–even if you happened to put a pot down without a potholder.

We have advanced AEON technology for extra durability, made for those who spend a lot of time in the kitchen like Lori. Hopefully she’ll give you a full report once we get her new countertops installed!

I’m going to be the black sheep here and go with #5. I like the various colors in there like the blue and pink. It’s not as dark as #1 and #3 is hard to see with the burst of light reflecting off of it.

I voted for #3, but I think if you can afford marble, I’d check out rainforest green – it’s not technically marble or granite, it’s something in between (harder than marble, not quite as hard as granite). It’s gorgeous – especially if you get it with a leather finish (textured, not glossy/flat). We just got it for our bathroom vanity. Good luck

Thanks Beth but I’m not paying for any of this. Wilsonart is supplying these to me free of charge so I can’t be too picky;)

      Appreciate the feedback from all!

After having done an extensive/expensive kitchen remodel, I consider myself an expert at this! And I vote for Number Two — none of the others is even a close second! (I have an opinion on absolutely everything and am always happy to share it! So glad you asked.)

I had org said 5 but looking at the bigger picture I VOTE FOR

becuase it looks cleaner & classy & rich!

I think after time I would get sick of the spotty colors.
Over all #4 looks more calming, cool & crisp!
