If you have teenagers, chances are, you’ve either already been through this, going through it now, or gonna go through it; working the concession stands. It’s a big part of raising money for the junior/senior prom and it’s a nightmare. Okay, maybe not THAT bad but it ain’t a whole lotta fun!
I made cupcakes with blue frosting for Monday night’s game and worked the money. People paid for food and I gladly took it. It’s not hard work by any means but it’s kinda boring. The only fun thing is watching everyone and perhaps overhearing little juicy tidbits. teehee

When arrived I immediately got to work chopping & slicing lettuce and tomatoes. Easy work and it was fun getting to hang out and chat with two other women, which is something I rarely do. *I did a great job huh!!

I got to see Tyler cook fries and clean up. Although, it doesn’t look like he’s working very hard at this particular moment.

Games and cleanup were over by 9. I started work at 4:3o. fun stuff y’all.
We’ve got concession work all week thanks to tournaments so I’ll be busy Wed with my workout, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with concession stands……all for the kiddos!
And with that, I’m hittin’ the hay. Do y’all do this too? What duties have you had the pleasure of doing?

Ha! It’s “Boy Tourney Week” and we are hosting. And… my husband is the junior class sponsor for the 5th year in a row, so yes… we are well acquainted with the concession stand. ;) Tonight he’s on duty from 3 till 10. I’m making a chocolate sheet cake for Saturday’s hospitality room, but don’t think I need to make anything for the concession stand this go-around.
Oh you DO know then!! LOL It’s a crazy time!!
You made cupcakes & didn’t send me any!!! Lori, I love you and always love having an email announce your latest posts in my inbox but this was like torture… cupcakes large as life in my face & I can’t get to them argghhh!!
Back on topic, it looks like you worked hard there & from the looks of the goodies I’m guessing the funf=d raiser was a huge success!
I want one of your blue frosted cupcakes! Delicious looking:) I worked my son’s T-Ball concession stand last spring and you’re right, not the most fun. Just one more thing we, as parents all do for our kids and that makes it all worthwhile:)
Gotta love the concession stand! We were new in town this year, we moved from Missouri to Northern California the week before school started. My sophomore son played football, so I got to take a couple of turns in the concession stand. Lovely! I actually don’t mind because it’s fun getting to know other parents (and having a little adult conversation!) and chatting with everyone.
One of the teenage girls asked me who’s mom I was. I told her his name, and she said, “Hm, I don’t know him.” One of the other girls said, “She’s ‘Missouri’s’ mom!” And she said, “Oh, yeah! I know him!” That’s his nickname at school since there are a few Brian’s, but no one from Missouri!
The football parents hosted dinner the night before each game, so that was some baking and cooking we had to do each week during the season. Not a big deal, but took extra planning.
I’m on the “Every 15 Minutes” committee at the high school, and that is a big commitment. Meetings every month, and then a two-day program and assembly in April. I’ll be glad when that is done!
I am a glutton for punishment. My youngest child graduated 3 years ago and I still work the concession stands every football season.
